So I recently purchased a 2005 Blue 8 with about 52K. 6 speed manual with leather and all that....bose... Just a little background- I have a 1966 Mustang that I have had since may1 2001. I have had a 350z (03 base) and two silver 2002 Mr2 spyders. The mustang was rusting in Fla so I sent it to sleep up north for a while. I hate normal cars. I have never been able to understand why anyone would want to drive a buick. I am studying to be an aircraft mechanic- recips, jets, bodywork, electrical, you name it. I couldn't care less about leather or CD players or any of that. My first priority is suspention. I lost both MR2's because I was on stock suspention and crap tires... (sort of). But anyways, I plan on driving the 8 like a grandma untill I can get coilovers and some bracing and some matching f*ing tires (:Drooling_). I have been reading a lot but I'm not sure what is best. There are a lot more options than the 2 had. Sound and speed are good for now. I plan on building an engine for a turbo later on after I know the car is ready for 400+bhp :yesnod:.
I'm in south Fla if anyone is around and wants to plan a meet.....

I'm from north Miami to Boynton beach on a daily basis. I'll check out the regions forums for sure, I was hoping to introduce myself to everyone though and get ideas as to where to start with this project.

400+ bhp mayb a 3 rotor engine a more realistic goal with an rx8 would be around 300.. but let me know how it goes yu should come to the meet, yull meet rx8 drivers and get some valuable information on what not to do and what to do, and for yur sake there is a search button so search before yu make a thread

Just do a bridge port...big single turbo...and the rest to compliment it...ummm or supercharge it, they seem to work well with the renesis engine...400whp easy. No dought in my mind.

First off, welcome and congrats on your new 8!! Definitely pass by for our meet next weekend at Dolphin Mall on Saturday.

As far as going to the FI route, there are several means to reach to 300 or till 400 with what it looks like you're interested. The Esmeril Turbo kit is one which has been producing that kind of power so far. If you check out the following threads, it should give you a better idea on the process, cost, etc.:

Again, make sure you get a compression test on the engine before anything. Also, check the Major Horsepower Upgrades section with other options and also upcoming additions to current turbo set-ups.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess what I meant by saying 400 hp was that I want as much as possible. As far as actual rubber to road power numbers that can wait for the proper research. I am most interested in suspension from coilovers to cages and braces and tires..... Sorry I need to slow down a bit. :) I want a race car. So far the community looks very helpful. This should be fun.

Welcome, nice color choice.

You definitely should come to the meet (if it doesn't rain too much).

As for your future goals with your 8, I suggest you should research the Greddy, Esmeril Racing turbo kit or the Pettit Racing Supercharger.

I spent quite a bit of time on the MR2 forums and they are a really tight group...... of old guys. This forum seems a lot more my style just like the 8 vs. the 2.

Thanks man! I agree that BLUE is the best color by far. Way faster for sure. I'll be at the next possible meet. Thanks for the threads too!:smoker:
