Stock oil light turning on ( in hot weather)

ok so i made a trip to Texas and the car was over heating on me 220-236 Water tempp

on one occasion the oil light came on indicating low oil or oil pressure, soo i added oil and it went away but as son as i turned off the vehicle it came back on and didnt turn off and kept coming on and off..
Ok its been about a month and has not come back on. soo i installed my gauges for my soon to come turbo kit, but havent put the turbo on. My prosport oil pressure gauge keeps flashing red indicating low oil pressure but not all the time.. usually whent he car stumbles, not a bad stumble just a little vibration and it beeps.
checked under the car and there seems to be oil leaking from where the block and the tranny meet. Now im thinking it could be my rear main seal leaking on me. but i cleaned it all up and checking in a couple more days to see if any droplets of oil in that area.

soo what do you guys think? would this be covered under warranty or out of pocket? im debating on taking it in to the dealership but i just wanted to see what my fellow rx8 club members think

thanks

-Martin

Did you look at your dip stick and check your oil? Is there oil under your car after you been parked for a while? The oil filter is right above where the engine and tranny meet so that could explain the oil there.

yeah i checked the oil dip stick and the oil was low so i added more. it stopped then began again to beep (prosport oil pressure gauge)
also i cleaned it several times and the oil seemed to fall on the support beam that goes under the transmission.and oil droplets on the (left) side of where the block and tranny meet. and no sign of oil trail either

Where block and tranny meet would be oil filter or oil gauge adapter leaking.

Martin,

If you have an '04, there was a TSB about the oil light coming on at mid-high rpms over when the engine is at a constant RPM (cruise control)

If I remember correctly when I checked mine out, it was a problem in the shape or design on the oil pan and sensor placement or something like that.

However, if you're finding oil where there isn't supposed to be oil, then you clearly have a leak. Oil has to go somewhere... if its burned, it'll make blue smoke; if its not burned.... well then its leaking somewhere!
