Post Official Timeslips Thread

Everyone knows the RX8 is not made for drag racing.

That said, post pics or details of your timeslips and car setup (mods, wheels, tires, etc) at the time of the runs.

If you search, my old time slips of my 14.4 bone stock are here somewhere. I haven't been to the drag strip in my 8 in a while though. I must state that it took me several runs and at that time I was coming off a 8 year binge of drag racing, haha.

bump from the dead.

Since these runs I've gone from 26 pound 18x9.5 wheels with 225/45ZR18 Goodyear Eagle GTs to 16.5 pound 17x9 wheels with 245/45ZR17 Bridgestone RE760s. I'm hoping to see at least a minor improvement... we'll see. I should be going to the track in the next few weeks.

from the last 14.41 @ 96.7

i have added

lightweight flywheel, BHR
lightweight clutch, ACT 4 puck (clutch and pressure plate are 2lbs lighter than stock)
accessport, stage 1 cobb tune

i have removed
teamrx8s awesome custom intake

I was thinking of doing a lot of those lightening mods, also two piece brakes from racingbrake, they are supposedly 4lb lighter per wheel..
looking forward to seeing how much difference those mods make.

nah. because either i have to sell my greddy turbo kit i have sitting in my shed due to no money. or i will go into the 13s turbocharged.

if i got my rx8 down to the professional race weight, i might have a chance. but then i'd need lightweight rims, rotors, custom lightweight exhaust, lightweight seats. etc, then i think i'd have a chance at 13s na.

i really think this car can do it. in fact, i know this car can do it. i know teamrx8s car (2800lbs, 225whp) is a 13 second car. but he doesnt drag race....

as an aside, im going to try to hit capitol raceway in crofton, maryland this friday. so if anyone of you are local and want to go with me, let me know.

Just went out to Sacramento Raceway yesterday. Got 14 runs over 4 hours. Best time was 14.80 @ 97.5... on one run where I missed 2nd I ran 15.5 @ 98.0!

New for this visit was:
17x9 +45 Enkei RPF1 wheels (8.5lbs lighter per wheel vs. last setup)
245/45ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 tires (20mm wider than last setup)

I think I'm attributing all of the MPH gain to the wheels and slightly smaller diameter tires (25.7" vs. 26.0" stock)... the high ET is due to lack of traction (horrible track prep + I'm still learning how to launch). I'll post pics of my three best slips tonight. Stupid Sacramento doesn't always show the 60' but on a few of them I saw I was only posting in the mid 2.6s whereas before I was posting low-mid 2.2s. Next time I got out the only change will probably be wider tires on these wheels: 285/40R17 rear, 275/40R17 front.

I will hit low/mid 14's NA!

245 is enough for a 2.00 second 60 foot. just ride the clutch more.

nice trap speeds.

Well in the interest of gaining a bit of top end I decided to go with taller/much wider tires.

I was slipping the clutch at 4000 and still losing traction oh well we'll see how the 285/40's hook... I can always go back to the 245's if I don't like how it does. Funny thing was I was doing like a 2.2x 60' with my 225/45R18 all season Goodyear Eagle GT's... maybe because the wheels were so much heavier?

Dude quit messing with stuff an practice. A bone stock 8 with a good driver should click off 14.5's regularly. It's all about the driver.

I wish I had more time to go out and practice! We'll see how the 285s hook, they seem to be muuuuuch better to launch and shift but if I don't manage a better time I still have the 245s sitting in my garage.

you dont want taller tires. if anything, you want shorter tires. shorter tires will effectively increase the gearing making you accelerate faster.

Yep, some 16's in the rear with good rubber will go a long way.
