EDIT: I did search first but didn't find anything that really described this!

Okay, so I am driving home from work (in stop and go traffic of course) and I go to push the clutch and I hear a popping noise. It only happened once, but now there is a dead (or soft) spot when I push the clutch. Luckily I was still able to engage the clutch enough to get home.

I drove my friends lancer home from the dealership and I kept mashing the clutch into the floor because it was so light. Feels light that up to a point.

Sounds like it could that TSB, but if it is then it should return to normal after it cools, right? It does not appear that the bracket has broken but it doesn't seem as sturdy as it rightfully should.

Any ideas? I'm thinking I need a new slave cylinder.

Did you actually look at it to see if it was cracked?
That would be the first thing I look at.

more than likely its the clutch pedal bracket.. its too cramped in there to check it 100% without removing the entire unit. mine has a soft spot until i got it replaced.. more than likely that is what yours has.. if you keep driving soon you wont be able to engage it into any gear

mine made a loud noise and then the same dead spot. i took the clutch pedal assembly out. the bracket had broken. a spot weld broke. it was the spot weld on the outside ( door side) of the bracket. take a look. It was much easier to look at with the drivers seat out of the car.
