Hey, good job on the grille, mikeb. Does anyone else find it eerily odd that LightemUp haven't responded to most of the cosmetic mods? Normally he has something to add to these threads?

I do believe it was about 10-15 dollars (chrome wheel well moulding) and it was a self-install

Yes, it was the "TEN DOLLAR" Billet grill! I am the one who did the professional install. It was very easy to do! I just started a 1/2" down from the top and then placed each other one, 1" from that. They stick pretty good, but I took a blow dryer to it and made it stick even better!

For those that are going to install the grill: Just make sure you cut the ends at the angle of the body, so you can make sure they run straight and level on the factory grill! And don't curve the last one at the bottom, just cut the ends at a very sharp angle so it will run level!

Is anyone concerned the grille is eventually going to blow off as it only is attached with stick tape/adhesive? Guess if it does, you just spend an extra $10 though..

I check the grill almost everytime I get out of the car:D

Well you can always use something else like GLUE to make sure it well not fall off!

This wheel well molding is meant to be curved around the wheel opening, and stuck on the fender surface. I rarely see one of these coming off. In our application it is straight, not curved, and every time you drive, the wind pressure is pushing on it. Mine has been on for over a month, and is solidly stuck on.

Now where do you get this for the grille? I am considering it but I have a feeling the hubby won't want me touching it but if i tell him it's just sticky tape....hmmmm....just maybe. Thanks.....oh...looks great Mike

You can get the wheel well molding from autozone - petboys - or almost any car parts place. Its very cheap and very easy to install. Also what I love is that when you get over it you can just pull it off and have no marks.

Was not sure if this would look good, but Mike this is sweet. Will do the same, even if I do have to buy from Pep Boys...good job.

I don't think it looks rice at all. Chip Foose done the same thing to a Ford Thunderbird on the show Rides (except it wasn't made of chrome wheel well moulding, but achieved the same result). I also seen a similar design on some Jaguars. Does that mean these two are rice too? IMO I think it's classy and sets apart from a regular RX-8.

Hmm... I dont know if it will bend that much though. I have some in my car and just looked at it, but I am not sure how tight you would need the shapes to be. Although it certainly is a possibility.

I'm wary of extra flashiness on my '8, but this mod does look pretty good (regardless of how it was accomplished). I think a brushed aluminum finish would look pretty good too.

I met with EricUSC on Dec. 30 and put in the grill for him.

Maybe a little heat gun aplication to make those corners, as the material as is wont bend that much and lay flat. But I can see it getting warmed up a bit and working just fine. I was gonna pull my instal lines off anyways to put in some that are the exact size/angle so I'll give it a whirl this weekend and see what happens. This is on the grill. It wont work for the other lines below and across the oil coolers without some sort of backpeice to support it.

Oh I know you can't do the other part, but I just put up the pic for people to know what we are talking about. Also post up some new pics of your car when you finish the grill.....

I am in Illlinois. If one of you guys do this let me know how it comes out. I just want the part in the grille area anyway. I think it looks cool and I also like what the Mike's did too. So update me on your ideas and how you do this! thanks much!
