View Full Version : Mazmart thermostat and Interceptor-X: would this cause engine to run richer?

Hello,

I plan on installing Esmeril Kit on my car. I also plan to install Mazmart water pump and thermostat at the same time. Now the new thermostat open sooner than the stock thermostat and would likely result in cooler coolant temp. Would this cause the engine to run richer because the PCM senses colder coolant temp? How would this affect the AFR in general? I live in a cooler climate up in MN (cold winter, cool weather 6 or so months out of the year and 80-95F summer. Car not driven in winter) and wonder if it necessary to need this thermostat at all. I plan to use stock radiator and mazmart pump for sure. My goal is to make sure the car has the additional cooling capacity that it needs with the turbo. Car will never see track and it would be driven spiritly from time to time.

Thanks

Ronn

I talked to Ray yesterday and he mentioned you have this new thermostat installed on your car. Do you know anyone with turbo that has one of this install in the car? I will install mazmart water pump and thermostat this weekend.

You will be fine.

lucky: not sure if any FI guys are using it yet, you should check Mazmarts' thread on it to see who had them already.
you'll be fine with the thermostat + Int-X

Hi Jedi54,
I went back and read thermostat thread by Mazmart but could not find anyone with FI has this thermostat on their cars. May be I should PM Paul. Thanks.

Could you drop by and tell me later how the car behave. How this help with the coolant temp. And if the car run richer with coolant temp. I am curious. I will install mine either this week or next week. I am taking my car apart right now. Thanks.

What turbo kit you have in your car?

I don't think that it will run richer....the thermostat will just open earlier when it's hot

Easy should be a good test mule...he will see hotter temps than I will here

Easy1, isn't that roughtly about similar temp as the stock thermostat? Can you describe what you mean by under load? Were you driving on the track or has been driven at high rpm for a while?
