you are very fortunate you didn't wreck

I would never drive a car with tires in that condition

ahahahah i have to post mine! i kept 1 as a souvenir. on both rear tires, steel belts, not showing, but splitting up, i literally drove them until they popped. i would never do this with the fronts though. and yes they were very slipery. 90 degree turns at 30 mph would get it sideways.

oh yeah, in the rain required ultimate clutch slippage or 2nd gear start. drifit was so easy though, clutch dip and it was sittin sideways for however long i wanted.

what are your new tires?

well the reason they sat so long was money issues. so i just got some general UHP's. but honestly. i love them. they are great tires.

How does anyone let tires get that bad?

If my bicycle tires looked like that I wouldn't even ride my bike at 20mph. If my car's tires looked like that I would be crazy or stupid to drive at 60mph on the highway!

i'm actually quite appalled. do you realize how many other drivers you put at risk by doing that? i get it - you didn't have the money. but if you can't afford to drive a car and keep even the basic maintenance....you can't afford the car.

and it should also be noted that the threading happened about ten min before i went to the shop. burned off as much tire as i could try and get it out of my system so i can make these tires last.

i'm sure you don't need me or anyone else to lecture you but those tires were waaaaayyy overdue for replacement. sucks to hear about you losing your job so i feel for you and i know this is a rough economy for those who do lose their jobs but i'm glad no one was hurt this time and hope that no one else lets their tires get that bad. careful or not, those are just waiting for an accident.

While the lectures may or may not be appropriate (I suppose they are) you missed a great opportunity to lightem' up and smokem' til they popped, videoing the process, and becoming an intraweb sensation overnight!

Then again...

Some awesome burnout pics in a safe place would be sweet! Perhaps a vacant Wallmart parking lot... Be safe though!
