Im not sure where its comming from but i had to remove that little tool holder thing in the floor of our cars using the 10mm as a drain bolt for now. But i need some more suggestions on maybe where the leak could be comming from.

Hi mate, i have the same problem here on my UK model. It appears that it could be a couple of things.
1 Rear light seals.
2. If you have a sun roof like mine then there are drain pipes. If these are blocked then water can run into the boot. (Trunk).
I have got laods of water in mine and im going to have to take a full day to check this out. Pleae let me know if you have any other ideas any one! :dunno:

DocBeech 12-30-2010, 05:09 PM I hope the jute under your carpet doesn't mold!!!
VashGS 12-30-2010, 05:22 PM Does it have a wing? The holes get corroded for dealer installed wings cause they cut thru the galvanization of the body. The whole body is dipped before paint robots. But once you cut the metal the rust start eating there. Make sure your drain holes are not clogged too.
Chad D. 12-30-2010, 05:39 PM I had this when I put my cf trunk on and I simply aluminum taped (both sides) the hole on the inside rimmed left hand side over the tail light, a pic, hope this helps, it worked for me.
edit- or it could be one of the rubber ventilation flaps behind the rear fender (behind the carpet)
//last winter i got some ice buildup there and all kinds of water splashed in
///or it could be the obvious, the tail light gasket not sealing properly.
I've fixed all of the above problems and now have been clean for over 7 months.

Thanks very much for your help. What are the holes that you have taped used for?
Im trying to see if the drain pipes from the sunroof are blocked. The trouble is that i cant find them?
Cheers

Hi Vash,
it does have a small lip on the trunk lid. We call it a spoiler in uk. I didnt get the car from new so i will check this thanks.
Can you explain where the drain holes are and what they are for? Sorry to sound like a complete idiot but only had the car recently.
Many thanks

There is only one hole that I taped and I don't know what it is for, but it was the culprit of my soggy trunk woes.
...i don't have a sunroof.

This post may help for the location and how to deal with it!

At least it will help you locate them!
Since we are talking in the rear, it looks to be right behind the wheel well. I know that the A/C condensation drain which has "duck lips" and is located in the front fire wall can get sticky and one must massage the "duck lips", so this appears it may be similar in nature?????

Look at the pics in my post below real close.
Might be able to stick a thin piece of wire in from the bottom and see if any obstruction, or maybe even knock it loose?

Cheers for advice Chad, glad it worked for you.
I would try to find out what the hole i as it could mean that water is building up in the rear of the car or some where else.
:dunno:
Grace_Excel 12-30-2010, 07:16 PM THANK YOU for reviving this thread. I did a lot of search last week and for some reason nothing came up. I had this problem when California had the eight day rain storm. I do have a sunroof but no rear wing, I'll read up on the links in this thread later.
DocBeech 12-30-2010, 09:21 PM while your at it make sure the seal on your sunroof doesn't need to be replaced. High amounts of UV can damage and crack them among other things. Its your opportunity to clean that bad boy up and make sure all is well.
For those of you who did get leaks and water in the car this part is very important. You either have to pull all the carpet out and dry it out perfectly, or you will need to steam clean everything. Make sure nothing gets a chance to mold! once it does you have to replace everything to prevent future problems! let it air dry out and then steam clean it, and let it dry completely all windows open for 3 days!!!
Grace_Excel 01-04-2011, 08:50 PM Besides the seals in my tail lights, I couldn't find the culprit for the water leak in my trunk but the weatherstrips. Water overflowed in the gutter and went in through the break on the stripping.
