I have just bought an 04 rx8 and my CEL light came on and when i went to get it looked at they told me i needed a new air pump, which they replaced for 722.00 and when i drove home the light came back on. I requested a full look over of the whole car due to it being a used. and they told me the engine was fine and everything was ok. but i do need to get the front and rear sway bars replaced soon. not major. the CEL code that they told me was PO410 which states traces back to inoperable air pump. they say they "
performed testing and result was tracce vachume to air pump... needs air pump,Replaced and cleared DTC and test drove.

Also, they reprogramed the PCM under warranty 35recall MSP16, which was a factory recall

Take it to Autozone and get the code read for free.
Might be another code causing your CEL.
You need to be sure so we can properly assist you.

disconnect the battery for ten minutes to reset the ECU.

Turn steering wheel all the way left and all the way right after you start it.

If it comes back you have a problem. Get the code read again.

Just recently, my CEL came on due to a bad rear sensor. I replaced the rear O2 sensor and disconnected the battery to reset the CEL. However, the wierdest thing happened. When I connected the battery after ten minutes and followed the procedures, my driver side window was hesitating. Also, when the car was cranked, it wanted to shut off on me and the battery light came on for a sec. I had to keep reving the car for three times and then it acted normal. Do you know why?

Not sure but seems like your alternator is going or your battery is no good bc, usually when things like what your experiencing happen the battery or alternator isnt charging. have them checked also the battery terminals to the battery

Don't jump into a thread with a different problem. How rude.

You have an issue thats different start a new thread.

In case you know how to read, I was following your procedures on how to reset the CEL. However, there were symptons that happened that you did not note down. So I was doing was a check up and too see if i did it properly.

I have now my third air pump in my car, and my light keeps coming on, I tried disconnecting and I scanned it cause I have my own scanner, the light was out and no codes for 3 days, and I started it up and the damn po410 Came on again!!! I'll try disconnecting the battery once again but any suggestions ??? I'm on my third air pump and I doubt that's what it is. Could it be the air solenoid beside the air pump? Would it throw the same code?
