It also had some nice looking wheels on it. Not sure which brand but I can find out if anyone is interested.

Nice pics however you would have thought that they would have continued the black stripes all the way to the front and rear bumpers?
Thanks
michael
mikeb 12-17-2003, 07:37 PM thanks for taking the pictures
but damn thats ugly
would've been better if they continued down in the rear and each stripe was a little thicker...even then i probably wouldn't like em...nice try tho but racing stripes just aren't in anymore
hondas2k 12-17-2003, 08:41 PM I don't care for them either. I just don't think stripes fit this car. I do like the wheels though so I will take some better pics tomorrow and post what brand they are in case anyone in interested.

AlexCisneros 12-17-2003, 08:49 PM looks a bit viperish...
brothervoodoo 12-17-2003, 09:26 PM So what kind of additional markup is the dealership asking for that paint job and wheels?
EAST MOON 12-17-2003, 10:28 PM EAST MOON has attached this image:

KTM-316 12-17-2003, 10:48 PM without the stripes from the front end the RX8 looks similar to a "viper" (as a friend have told me) and definitely putting on those stripes will make it a viper. I WISH!
XDEEDUBBX 12-17-2003, 11:19 PM man looks like it got ran over by a big truck.. (tire marks)
StealthTL 12-17-2003, 11:29 PM Who looked at that beautiful yellow, with it's classy wheels, and said - "what THAT needs is two black stipes over the roof...."?

eccles 12-18-2003, 01:57 AM To my eye they make it look like a Neon. :(
mmmdowning 12-18-2003, 06:11 AM The dealership should be banned from selling any more RX8's.
TreknMazda 12-18-2003, 02:24 PM Is this another horsepower mod? :D
Dugless 12-18-2003, 02:40 PM sweet taxi
Jhouse 12-18-2003, 05:06 PM the mini cooper s Bonnet strips would look better. the straight lines just cut right through the naturalness of the cars body lines
budaman2 12-18-2003, 05:47 PM When I got back from vacation, I walked into my showroom and about passed out. My yellow RX-8 that I had but a nice set of Enkie wheels on, now looked like a bumblebee! While I was gone , some vendor talked the sales mgr into putting stripes on a couple of 8's. These stripes are too thin and too far apart. Had they been like the ones on the Ford GT, they might have been better. They did a red with white stripes that were a little bit wider and it looked much better. To make matters worse, they put them over the clear bra I had on the car. The wheels I got from Dealer Accents and exchanged out the stock wheels giving me a net of just under $600 for the set. The stock pressure sensors worked fine on these wheels. I had them chrome the stock wheels and replaced another set of stock wheels and they netted at $900. Since we can't get the polished wheels anymore, it's more cost effective than ordering the factory chromes.
hondas2k 12-18-2003, 05:49 PM How did your car have stripes put on it? Why was it at the dealer where this could happen? Is there something that I am not following?

I thought you knew who I am. No it's not my car in the owner sense, but all the 8's on the lot are like my kids. I know I shouldn't get so attached to them, they are just hunks of metal, but they all do have personalities. That sounds kind of sick doesn't it. Oh well, It's still the best vehicle we've ever had and I still get a smile every time I drive one!

zoom44 12-18-2003, 06:14 PM hi buda! how's things with you?

Any pics of the red with the wider white stripes?

BLUE PHI RX-8 12-19-2003, 05:39 AM Now that's UGLY!!!!
Red Devil 12-19-2003, 09:32 AM I'm with Eccles, it does have a horrible Neon look to it.
On the bright side, I've heard Yellow RX-8's with specifically black racing stripes run at 280hp, and isn't that the same spec. as the Evolv concept?;)
Budaman,
Why would you put a clear bra on the front? Is it the same as Clearguard? I saw a Ford Mustang today that had the clearguard put on last year "new" and let me just say this....it is UGLY! Can see the definite line difference between the clearguard and the car...I'd almost rather chance a few dings here and there then see that look....
khoney 12-19-2003, 06:18 PM Now that is one RX-8 that will probably sell for below invoice... hideous!
budaman2 12-19-2003, 06:21 PM The one I put on is made by 3M. I did the entire kit that covers the full nose and about 8" up the hood. There is a very fine line on the hood where it ends that you can see if you look at it from certain directions. I put it on my Red demo also and I can honestly say it is effective. Loaned it out to a service customer last week and they ran into something causing damage to the bra but it didn't scratch the nosepiece or damage the paint. Had it not been on I would have had to paint the entire nosepiece. Also the vendor did it on a consignment basis, so unless I sell it, it won't cost me anything. I don't know however if I could justify the retail price of this particular kit. I didn't put it on my wife's Titanium RX-8 that she bought last week. I also didn't put stripes on hers!:)
zoom44 12-19-2003, 06:25 PM damn you loaned an rx-8 out to service customer? my loaner was a friggin chevy impala !:(
brownchiro 06-26-2005, 10:05 PM Here is my yellow with black stripes with RX8 logo in the stripe.
FastRX8 07-15-2005, 04:57 PM I just found this thread.
Here's some more stripes on a yellow.

Cattywampus 07-15-2005, 07:39 PM Why is yellow still on the lot as new. Or is it used. Looks good with the wheels but the stripes need to go or continue all the way
gr8jab 07-16-2005, 12:04 AM I've seen the clear bra on many cars. Some look horrible, others are almost invisible.
I saw it on a white mustang at the dealer, and it was awful. I couldn't believe how bad it looked.
A friend who is an installer put it on my sunlight silver 8, and it looks really nice. Unless you're up close, you can't even see it...
Mugatu 07-16-2005, 12:44 AM yikes, those yellows look hideous.
truemagellen 07-16-2005, 03:36 AM ummmmmmmmmm yeahhhhh ok  :p

Mine has clear bra on it (the yellow with the "rx8" stripes".
WaterLogged 07-18-2005, 09:15 AM This car belongs to a guy in our "region." I personally think it's the best application of stripes on an 8 yet. Of course I'd opt not to have stripes at all, but this actually looks pretty good.

LucasET 07-18-2005, 10:07 AM The only thing that would be worse than those stripes would be to paint an 8 with that "Chameleon" shit. Why the Hell do dealers do crap like that? Of course, I guess there's always going to be some tool that will get a chubby when he sees "racing" stripes.
HOWEVER...the offset stripe...not quite so bad.
BTW, that stinger on the bumble-bee photochop gives me an idea...The VW Beetle Baja Exhaust Mod. Get yours today!!!!
canaryrx8 07-18-2005, 01:48 PM someone just had to revive this thread, the yellow is one of the cleanest looking colors the 8 ever had, why ruin it (or any other color for that matter) with stickers? at least paint the stripes or do something a little different like ghost checkers or something. :) (I do give points to the one with the RX8 logo in it, not my style but at least it's not some tired looking sticker stripes)
