HEHEHEHe

Offering up damn near unprecedented levels of front end feel, that suspension and steering system isn’t communicative, its literally sitting in your hands screaming out the current conditions like a tourrette’s afflicted weatherman on crack.

Driving into a corner and feeling the back tires step out inch by inch at the same time as the sensation of the front tires’ experience tingles across your fingertips is exquisite enough, but add in the flexibility of the power available under your right foot and the aural bliss that comes from the back of this car and you’ve got one hell of an experience. Cocaine? No thanks, I’ll get my stimulants at 9,000 rpm.

nice:)

That's explaining it very well :)

Very nice write up.

Without exception, the most thrilling human creations are always the smallest, and the rotary engine that sits under the hood of Mazda’s latest RX8 R3 ranks right up there next to cocaine. :uhh:

Any way to replicate the R3 package (chassis) on a standard 05 model? Are those parts for sale?

I doubt they have changed the geometry - can anyone confirm ?

Also, in comparison, is this package an improvement on the MS chassis upgrades?

I think if you go aftermarket, you'll find it much better.

'09+ models do indeed have revised rear geometry, in addition to revised bracing and additional welds for increased rigidity.

So no, those with older RX-8's can't really replicate the '09+ chassis unless they happen to be doing custom-fab structural stuff (in which case they'd probably be building a race/track car anyway).

Are you serious?
I was about to do that when I read the article.
You know what, Fuck you.

Anyway, it was a good read and I think he got most of the stuff spot on with the car. (cough cough Car and Driver)

Seeing as the R3 is really just the current "special edition" car, you could come close with a Shinka/40th AE foam-filled front crossmember and 40th AE Bilstein shocks. I'm not sure how cost effective that would be though. Does someone have pictures of the additional bracing on an '09s?

look in the tech section for the sticky where ash8 has posted all of the diagrams

Having just now looked, it looks like the only "chassis bracing" change is a triangular front strut tower brace.

Again, the '09+ models have a bunch of extra structural spot welds, which is the main thing that contributes to the increased rigidity over the '04-'08 models.
That's not something someone can replicate themselves (unless they're equipping the car with a roll/race cage, like I already stated).
