AHHH!!, looks like a Z-car! Good find tho, pimp! Can we get the detailed text? Totally agree about the pop-up lights. They can can integrate HID and daytime running lights if they really wanted to and be unique in a world of jeweled HID's. Gawd, those look like 19's. :)

ummm.. October issue? We're slackin' here. :D

They CAN'T - pop up lights are pretty much illegal now. Not for existing cars, but NO new model will get type approval or certification in Europe because of recent regulatory changes to protect pedestrians in car/pedestrian accidents. There will NEVER be ANY new cars introduced with pop up headlights again (if they ever wish to sell that car in Europe).

Gordon

near the begining of the article is says that lewis booth would introduce a prototype at Tokyo. which he obviously didn't do. it's codenamed j77. it says that along with a coupe they have also drawn plans for a cabriolet and the "mazda chiefs" are also pursueing the idea of a convertable hardtop. wider rotors enhanced cooling, stiffer block and higher redline. 1.6l 300bhp NA with a supercharged version to follow. that's the gist of it. damn my eyes hurt now.

It looks more like a Infiniti G35 coupe and Mazda 3 photoshop.
Why dont they just refresh the 3rd Generation RX-7, Rather then making a whole new design if they make a RX-7 again.

I was thinking the exact same thing...only without the "AHHH!!"...i think its the roofline and rear fenders that make it look so similar to the Z.

i really REALLY hate all this BS that the mags pump out... and take absolutely NO consideration into the basic characteristics of what an RX-7 looks like.

i've been saying it for a long time, but i think i owe it to myself to really make some butchering of a drawing and highlight the things the design of an RX-7 which make it unmistakeably an RX-7.

i think its pretty hard to make a new rx7 that has the same characterisics of the present rx7, the designers will wind up with a car extremely close to the rx7, i tried to draw a couple of rx7s but i cant draw it with the same characteristics, ill try and ill post them soon

Yes, the current C5 Corvette does. Note I said they're not illegal for existing models, but they will be illegal for any new models introduced. That's why the new C6 Corvette does NOT have pop up lights.

Okay my bad. I didn't know the C6 wasn't coming with pop-up lights. What a shame. I love pop up lights.
