Hill 01-18-2009, 10:22 AM Hinson Supercars would be your best bet for help but to do such a swap will require a "front-half" job and that takes MAJOR "commitment" on your part. My 2 cents; if you're gonna do an LS swap, don't bother with the LS1 and use the LS7 or LS9. Ryan2008 01-18-2009, 10:27 AM +1 ^^ TheGreatLouisianaRoadkill 01-18-2009, 12:38 PM sell your car and get an C5 z06. it would be cheaper and easier ;) heyarnold69 01-18-2009, 02:09 PM put an LS9 in a little civic. Put a 4 rotor in a RX 04RX8man 01-19-2009, 03:45 PM ^agree with the 4 rotor or 20B dozer 01-19-2009, 03:48 PM ls9 civic? wtf? CyberPitz 01-19-2009, 04:00 PM ls9 civic? wtf? Nobody could make rice comments to it after that, I suppose... kersh4w 01-19-2009, 04:10 PM the front bay of a civic isnt large enough for an ls? it would be an extremely tight fight if it worked. better idea to mount it behind the front seats and convert it to rwd. dozer 01-19-2009, 04:15 PM ^yeah, but also the ls9 is a rear wheel drive engine...you CANT sidemount an ls9 kersh4w 01-19-2009, 04:18 PM you mount it inline to the drivetrain....? edit: hmm, i wonder where the tranny would go. i guess you would have to push the firewall/interior back a bit. dozer 01-19-2009, 04:20 PM then that would require a RWD platform....you cant mount longways on a FWD dozer 01-19-2009, 04:27 PM put an LS9 in a little civic. My 2 cents; if you're gonna do an LS swap, don't bother with the LS1 and use the LS7 or LS9. ATM, the cheapest I've seen an LS7 crate engine go for is a little over 10k. You can get an LS1 for dirt cheap and an LS2 for not much more. For the money you save, you can spend in mods or actually installing. Also, Hinson charges 10k for the swap, you supply engine and tranny. I've asked :( Mazmart 01-20-2009, 08:37 AM All of the GM V8s are a tough squeeze to fit in the 3rd gen RX7 while much easier in the 2nd gen version. Yes Paul, It would be a Major Major hack job, and what about the overall balance of the chassis and handling, IMO the extra weight would make it a PIG to drive, might be much faster in a straight line....BUT???????? Why spend that money, if you want a V8 just go and buy the car it was designed for?
