best deal on Greddy turbo kits?

Hey guys, new to this forum so please be easy on me if my q's and comments seem a little,,,,,uh,,,,stupid!
I was curious where you guys recommend to get the best deal in a Greddy turbo kit for my 04 RX-8?

Also, any advice on the best way to upgrade the software on my Navigation?

Appreciate any help you could give me.

It's ok to ask questions. General rule of thumb is to search around a little bit or people will get on your case.

Check the site out for any parts you may need, and check with us to see if we can't get you better pricing

best deal is a used kit. If you can find one.

second best deal is to go back in time and buy one from when they sold new for $2900.

My only beef with the greddy kit is that you really need to replace the turbo. Otherwise you end up with a lot of headaches. Then you need to replace all the couplers, since they're prone to breaking. Then you need to replace the fuel management, because it may not always do as you tell it.

So in the end, the greddy kit is pretty decent, if you replace just about everything in it. Good thing there's a company doing just that, but you'll have to check for availability.

there's a thread somewhere around here about nav upgrades (ya'll take notice I'm not telling him to search). I vaguely recall you being SOL if you've got an '04 but I could be wrong.... definitely wouldn't be the first time.

for only $199 you can get an updated map.

2004 are still current, at least mine was (built in dec 2003, at dealer by april 2004) as I had the latest firmware. So I think the preorder guys had 2004 models with the early firmware. You can get a firmware upgrade disk from somewhere... I don't know offhand who you would have to reach to get it though.

Don't forget the intake will need to be replaced if he goes with the accessport.

With all that replaced.... the only thing left from the original kit is the piping and intercooler!

Funny. You didn't buy the greddy turbo kit for 85% off. You might have gotten the emanage upgrade kit for $600 though. That'll get you the ultimate and an intake blocking plate.

The only thing in the GReddy kit that is really worth having is the manifold. I've replaced everything else in my upcoming setup. The Mitsu turbo in the GReddy kit is junk, the intake doesn't work with the AccessPORT, EManage is godawful, and the connectors are cheap and break. Getting a used GReddy kit from the For Sale threads is generally your best bet for getting a cheap kit with the manifold. Occasionally you find a really good deal if you watch for it.

i've seen used greddy kits go for $300-600 locally here in Tampa. But those are rare to come across. Usually they run $1500-2000, but include bov, boost controller, and other misc upgrades.
