Parked my car at Dee Why beach on Saturday arvo, near an intersection with one of those arrangements where the curb comes out to form an L-shape, restricting how far forward you can go. There was some moped thing right against the L-shape curb and then a generous sized space behind it, which I slid into.

Remembered thinking at the time, "well, I could take all this up and leave myself plenty of room" but then thought "that's pretty selfish and another small car might fit in as well" (parking's always at a premium there), so I moved mine back closer to the car behind and left a decent space in front of me for another car.

Only there about 15 minutes or so. Walking back noticed a young family getting out of an oldish Honda Legend parked in front of me. Thought he'd done well to fit the car in with the moped still there. Then get a bit closer and see a note on my car's windscreen.

Yep, you guessed it. His tow bar had rearranged my front grille (twice apparently), whilst attempting to shoehorn his tired luxo-mobile into a tight space.

The weird thing was I felt sorry for him. He was so apologetic and his wife and young kids are looking on (said kids blamed for screaming, etc - yep, been there done that) . Times gone by I probably would have done my nut, etc but I just calmly got some more details from him and told him life's too short to stress about this kind of thing.

Gave him my card and before I could do anything about it this morning he's already emailed me and organising to have his insurer look after it.

Damage isn't too bad - just the lower part of the grill shoved in. Told him to hit it again harder so I could get the nose cone resprayed too! :)

Anyway, boring story but it is evidence that honest people live in Sydney. Hmmm, maybe he was passing through...:uhh: :eyetwitch

EDIT - before I could even finish this post, he's rung me to make more arrangements and apologise again! Should have him stuffed and mounted for posterity! :lol2:

Well, yes, it was very nice, you certainly don't hear of things like that very often, and I'm glad it's turning out OK.

But are you sure you weren't wearing your "I am a lawyer" T-shirt? You know, the one which says "after I sue you into eternal penury, I will sell your wife and kids into slavery".

Hehehe, I couldn't have been more pleasant...and I only gave him my card as we parted company, so I didn't see his reaction...:evil_laug :evil_laug

It's usually

I saw you driving on Military road on the weekend by the way..

Hate that street!

Were you in your 8 or your beater?

I was in the beater Triton. I was waiting at the lights and heard a familiar Hymee note and the saw then telltale sticker on the back..

Well, he hasn't paid me yet. :uhh: :)

New grille is getting fitted today, so we'll see if he's as good as his word. So far though he seems okay.

The next exciting instalment (hey, I've got a very boring brief to read...)

Well, new grille fitted on Friday - looks fine ($237 and change in case you're wondering).

Old mate says he transferred the $$ this morning but that Bank West are slow with such transfers, so I'll check tomorrow to see if it's landed. He's in Perth till Thursday but wants to drop something in to me on Friday morning...I asked him if it would be ticking or not? :uhh: :icon_no2:

Stay tuned thrill seekers...

Ok, you can all relax. He came good with the $$ (indeed, rounded it up to $240).

Huh, now I get to look forward to whatever it is he's dropping off to me on Friday.

Weird.

Back to sleep now threadie....shhhh....<me creeps back out again>

Well, I was given a nice bottle of red for my trouble. Not a cheapie either.

That's what I call good karma!...

So next time someone runs into you, don't do your nut. Be nice and nice things will happen to you...

Oh crap, someone stop me before I start singing Kumbayah or whatever the hell it is...think I need to go kick the cat or something...
