Got my insurance claim and getting aftermarkets installed...Am I missing anything?

So I had run over something a month ago and it killed my catalytic converter. I put in an insurance claim and got back $2300. So with that money, I bought and installed a used catalytic converter. With the remaining cash, I plan on installing the following mods that have been collecting dust in the garage:

- Tokiko Shocks
- ACT flywheel
- Exedy Stage I Clutch
- Redline Transmission and Diff Fluid
- Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads

Is there anything else I can take advantage of installing while getting all the above done - like a 2 for 1 with the flywheel and clutch? Any suggestions would be great.

The OEM shocks for the car are made by Tokico. The don't compare to the Tokico Dspecs the is an upgrade.

I don't see any springs listed. I would suggest those since you are going to have the shock assemblies out and apart to install the shocks anyways.

thanks for the feedback. Yeah I should have been more clear with what is already on the car. Currently have a HKS Legamax, Esperlir Springs, and HKS intake. I contemplated the midpipe route but in the end decided to go back with the stock, since I am satisfied with the current sound of the car. I didn't want to go any louder, nor have to deal with the CEL for inspections.

I think I am going to grab some sways and strut bars while doing the shocks. install.

you could get a high flow cat. makes the car sound even better and you wont get a CEL. The RP Super Cat is about $400, I am ordering mine friday

yet another person profiting off of car insurance....

If you could have gotten the cat so cheap in the first place, what's the point of filing the claim? Insurance is supposed to get you back to pre-loss condition....if you're making a profit, you're clearly not using the money for what it was intended for.

Enjoy the nice hike in your rates. Realize that running over something is considered your fault....now you have an at fault accident on your policy. Trust me, I know....I'm a claims adjuster for a very large insurance company.

It is legit. I'm not saying he did anything wrong, what I'm saying is that the whole point of insurance is something called indemnification: getting the vehicle back into pre-accident condition. If he was going to purchase a used cat for what it sounds like to be very cheap, there is no point in putting a claim in. Some people don't understand that by putting a claim in, a liability investigation is done. If he hits a object in the road, it falls under collision coverage, and typically someone is always considered at fault. They probably put him at fault for driver inattention, because if he was paying attention he would have seen the object.

Sure, they paid out $2300 for his claim. But an at-fault claim sticks with you for at least 3 years, up to 5 years....even if he changes insurance, it will follow him. He'll be getting a rate hike for sure, and his ins company will probably get their money back within a few years.

If his company writes for an item, he should use that item....obviously they paid for a new catalytic converter, and he found a used one. Who knows of the condition of the used cat, as well as how long it may last. I just feel its irresponsible to profit on insurance.....that's not the reason people have it on their vehicles.

Gotta remember too, this claim affects everyones rates. The more claims that are reported, especially those that aren't always necessary, the higher the ins companies write their premiums for everyone. So while some people may not realize it, this poster played a part in the reason why everyones rates are so high.

I don't like to see people rip off insurance co.s either .
In this case the guy is taking a punt that the old cat will be ok - if it isn't he will may lose out - or more likely just buy another used cat as they are everywhere
The co. will get his money back eventually as you say but it will be over time and he has some money to play with now because he did a smart thing in my opinion .
If he was really smart he would use the 2k to pay down debt or invest but that is another story .....

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm in the industry so I see this type of claim all the time, which is why my opinion is against it.

I was in the same type of situation. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/accident-need-help-151080/

It happend right around my six month mark and after the claim was said and done and I hit my 6 month mark my insurance went down. My insurance filed it as a comprehensive claim.

odd....typically a comp claim involves flying objects, animal hits, flood, hail, all types of weather, theft, etc. Hitting something lying in the road is typically a coll claim.....
