Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm in the market for a new car, and, having been driving an SUV for the past 10 years, am looking for something smaller and sporty. I have started researching the lexus IS, infiniti G, mitsubishi Evo X, and the RX-8.
I have sat in a few RX-8's in Toronto dealerships, and, like some members of this board, have found that I am too tall for moonroofed models (I am 6'2, and find that I hit my head on the roof if I sit up straight, and especially above where the suicide doors close to the left of the driver's head). In Canada, the GT model can only be purchased with a moonroof. I suppose I could look at a base RX-8 (GS), but I definitely prefer the luxury features available in the GT (heated & power leather seats, sat/nav, etc., which are deal breakers as far as options go). I asked a salesperson whether a GT could be made to order without a moonroof, and he said it could not be done... that the GS and GT models are made on different lines or something. I figured I would pose the same question to the experts on this board, seeing as the salesperson really didn't appear to know much about the car (I found that I knew more just from reading the mazda website).
So, I ask you all kindly: do you think it would be possible to order a GT without a moonroof? Is that something a dealership would accommodate for a sale? Thanks.
