It doesnt display on the regular CD player. I wish they would have just put the MP3 disc player as the standard cd player...but oh well... eccles 11-28-2003, 12:20 AM Originally posted by Bankotsu My parents just bought a 4runner and I liked how it displays the songs playing and the name of the station. Whereabouts are you? The US-spec radio does not display station information, but I note from some of the pics on the European forum that theirs do. I guess the Euro-spec '8's must be RDS-capable; the US does not have such a system. Bankotsu 11-28-2003, 11:55 AM Originally posted by eccles Whereabouts are you? B-Nez 11-28-2003, 11:59 AM I've successfully used RDS in a rental car in FL, AL, SC, and NC. We actually had a bit of fun finding the 80's stations that way and betting on what song would be next. I think it is just not very popular in the U.S. - most folks don't even realize it exists. I know for me, I almost never listen to the 3 shitty stations we have in my area, and prefer instead to use the CD-mp3. eccles 11-28-2003, 12:50 PM Originally posted by B-Nez I've successfully used RDS in a rental car in FL, AL, SC, and NC. My wife's Altima displays the station info, but my "8" does not. eccles 11-30-2003, 01:13 AM I have never seen any station or track information on mine, so either none of the stations around here are broadcasting RDS information, or (more likely) the US-spec radio is not RDS-capable. However, as I said in a previous post, I have seen station information displayed on a UK-spec car (in the "Top Gear" review video the display is showing "BBC2" or similar), so apparently the UK-spec radio is RDS-capable. matt 11-30-2003, 02:00 PM my 02 explorer is RDS. It even displays commercials (:() and traffic. bureau13 12-01-2003, 09:34 AM My 03 Trailblazer displays it, but it seems to be a new thing down here in S. Florida...I just noticed last week that song titles were showing up. Actually...I think I've seen some station call letters for a while now...but the artist/title stuff appears to be recent. jds |
