View Full Version : Shudder at cold start?

I decided to post this after reading the thread on people getting new engines after 1000+ miles due to coolant leaks...

Is this something you guys see? When you cold crank (like first thing in the morning or after your car has been sitting for a few hours) do you notice a very slight 'shudder' in the engine idle? It lasts about 1 second but is very noticable... after that the idle smooths out until the engine is warmed up. This happens every time, only at cold start.

Also, I have noticed when I accellerate quickly between gears, that if I give it a lot of gas the engine almost seems to lag a half a second or so before the power kicks in. It's like it isn't combusting immediately or something. Anyone else noticed this?

I have noticed the same thing on my morning start-up. Usually with the outside air temp below 60 degrees.

I am not sure if it's common or not. I am new to rotories.
