I have had my 8 for about a year now and have done a reasonable job of keeping it clean. However, the paint near the badges seems to be very difficult to clean and is really starting to look nasty. I considered removing the badges, detailing then re-installing but after reading the badge removal posts that seems like too much of a hassle. Anyone have any ideas?

Avoid using carnauba wax. A sealant (synthetic polish) will work really well and if you happen to not buff it off completely, it will just leave an almost clear haze. Just use a microfiber towel and don't buff it off too hard to get every last bit off the edges so you won't cause scratches.

what about the "inbetween" parts?
what about the "inbetween" parts?
Are you using a wash mitt or something else to wash your car? A wash mitt will allow you to reach any part of your car with the possible exception of behind the wheel spokes or far into the exhaust shrouds if you have a larger aftermarket exhaust.
A detail clearcoat polish allows you to hit the badges and the paint so you don't have to proceed with a seperate process on the two or have any issues getting inside the badges.

A soft plastic brush or old toothbrush would work too ;) Would hold up better than a wet q-tip, IMO :)

^^^^ Yup. I bought a set of artists brushes from the craft store. Works great for removing dirt, excess dry wax, and random junk from all the little crevices. I have a BB and havent noticed any scrates interior or exterior.
