View Full Version : Installing factory iPod adapter....
ChristInBen 06-26-2008, 12:40 AM Hey guys,
Do you know of any reliable shops in Mississauga, or the GTA to install the Mazda iPod adapter at a good price? Cuz I know the dealerships will ask about $150 to install it. Also, I'm purchasing a used adapter, so is the Mazda iPod adapter generic between certain models including our 8's? What is the part number if anyone has it, so I can verify it against the seller's part number?
Thanks and God bless you guys! :)
Ben.

Please Please Please don't buy the factory ipod adapter. It is absolutely awful. Why anyone would go with one rather then an audiolink is absolutely beyond me.
Leesha 06-26-2008, 08:08 AM I have the factory adapter and it works fine for me. Just problems searching for songs ...thats all... :)
Kafka 06-26-2008, 09:00 AM I made the mistake and they already installed it !#$^

Because their firmware version isn't high enough to support the Audilink perhaps?
If you have an early car with firmware lower than 9.55, I don't think there is any option other than the Mazda unit, is there?

I was under the impression that the whole point of a harddrive based mp3 player with 40-160 gigs of music and a screen is so that you can "search for songs"
But hey, thats just me.
If you dont have a firmware that supports an audiolink, you've still got options, all of them much better then the mazda factory ipod adapter.
boffam 06-26-2008, 11:56 AM *Apparently* you can control the iPod Touch using its own controls if you have the OEM adapter.

That's so cool, I'm God-willingly gonna get an iPhone next month, so I'll prolly do that. My Rx-8 is a 2005 GT model....so I'm assuming that I have the 9.55 version of the firmware?
Also, where is a good place in Mississauga or GTA area to install it?
Footman 06-26-2008, 12:32 PM Why does everything have to be under the assumption that "only if God would allow you to do so"...
What happened to your own free-will, hands, thoughts?
Kafka 06-26-2008, 12:45 PM Nothing disrespect, "god willing" is a religious speak.
Eg, the muslim saying: "Insha'Allah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insha'Allah)"
I use that in my coversation with a coworker from middle east too, and nearly got my ass kicked when I said I ma pwn you in CoD4, god willing...one day :P
Well after I pwn him in CoD4 aftewards, he know my god is willing now hahaha.
Culutral understanding for us infidel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infidel)...its all good! :lol2:

As Christians, we give up our will to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Because we believe that we wouldn't be here without Him, and we owe everything to Him. So that's why we say God-willingly.
Back to my original question....anybody know any good shops to install the Mazda OEM iPod adapter?

I'd like to know what those are...I'm guessing that none of them charge the iPod (a big deal for me).

Thanks dude, but I'm trying to stay away from the dealerships because of their high labour rates. Anybody know any good install shops?

You might save $10, but on the other hand the Mazda dealer will have installed dozens of these units.
