View Full Version : AcessPort vs E-Manage
WingleBeast 06-08-2008, 07:21 PM to get down to basics, do i need both? I plan on getting the GReddy turbo kit, and i know i can adjust maps on the e-manage that comes with it, so do i still need the AcessPort? Will e-manage turn off the speed limeter?
any other conflicts i have missed? im just not sure how adjusting the stock maps would help if i can just overwrite them with the e-manage anyway. If i do get both and i need to fix an issue, what is better to adjust, the ECU with the acessport or the piggyback e-manage maps.
thanks
mysql 06-08-2008, 07:22 PM get the ap. forget about emanage.
WingleBeast 06-09-2008, 02:39 PM so i can run a turbo without the e-manage? that would be convenient, but i would have to get accurate fuel and ignition maps from somewhere
and probably a boost controller. right?

Yes, the AccessPort with the proper map makes the eManage unneeded as it builds the needed fuel and such into your PCM map rather then you needing a separate computer to modify the tune. The nice thing about buying an AP through MazdaManiac is that he will provide you with working maps for your setup for free, as part of you purchasing the unit through him.
WingleBeast 06-09-2008, 02:56 PM im new to the boards, and i already love all of you.
but serious, now the hard question, can i buy the turbo kit without the manage? or am i just going to have to e-bay it after i buy the kit. and if i ebay it i have to unlock it so others can use it right....
such a small question gets so complicated
and also, is a boost controller compleately nessicery for a system without the e-manage, or can that be set manually through the wastegate without buying a controller. And if i were to buy a controller would i need 2 different maps for 2 different boost settings?
mysql 06-09-2008, 02:58 PM the proper answer is to buy the BHR turbo kit, you get the AP, and you get a much more powerful GT3071R turbo, plus upgraded fuel injectors, cold air intake, upgraded couplers, etc.
legendkurado 06-09-2008, 03:37 PM +1 on the bhr
Jedi54 06-09-2008, 03:49 PM Black Halo Racing turbo is SOOOOOOOO much superior to the stock greddy. (Greddy has stopped making their turbo setup)
+1 on BHR turbo + AP. You'll love the combo, just look at Mysql's pics / videos.
mysql 06-09-2008, 03:51 PM greddy stopped making their kit?
Jedi54 06-09-2008, 03:53 PM I thought I heard Ray mention it. I could be wrong...
MazdaManiac 06-09-2008, 03:54 PM greddy stopped making their kit?
They are talking about another production run, but they are gone for the moment unless you can find one in new/old stock.
WingleBeast 06-09-2008, 03:57 PM is the BHR turbo basically the same as [greddy kit + MM upgrade + cobb accessport]
mysql 06-09-2008, 04:01 PM They are talking about another production run, but they are gone for the moment unless you can find one in new/old stock.
wow. So they're giving up and will just be making manifolds for you guys? Sounds like they can see a good thing coming.
Floyd 06-09-2008, 04:08 PM is the BHR turbo basically the same as [greddy kit + MM upgrade + cobb accessport]
Basicly yes except they have contracted Greddy to alter their piping to BHR's specs so no fabrication is required by MM or the end user.
WingleBeast 06-09-2008, 04:26 PM and last but not least, if i get the BHR setup or the greddy with the MM upgrade, the site claims more HP is available (which i believe with a 3071R) what would all be nessicerry to push it up higher? I know you would need
bigger injectors
coil upgrade
fuel pump
exhaust
not counting wear and tear items (axels, differentals or tansmission) what elts would be nessicerry to up the boost?
Jedi54 06-09-2008, 04:28 PM if you're going for more then 300-330 that should be achievable with the kit, you'll probably want a fuel pump and DEFINITELY upgraded coils. (get those from BHR as well) Starting to see the pattern? BHR = 1 stop shopping. :)
as for exhaust: get rid of the stock catalytic and a better flowing exhaust.
WingleBeast 06-09-2008, 05:59 PM dont worry a full length turbo exhuast has been on the shopping list for a long time
Razz1 06-09-2008, 11:49 PM E manage = piggy back
AP = full control
tajabaho1 06-10-2008, 07:19 AM Don't listen to Razz, he's kinda coo coo ever since he got the AP.........
btw, I wonder whether the AP can work with the E-manage
since i already have an EMU and still want to run nitrous with a turbo
and yes, no one can stop me from inevitably blowing up into a pile of scrap/organic matter
