California Motoring Legislation Alert!
There is currently a bill about the possible introduction of speed cameras. I think most of us will be quite concerned if that were the case, so let's nip this in the bud before it gets out of control. The following is a letter from the National Motorists Association:
***
Dear California NMA Members,
There is a bill currently in the Senate that requires your attention. It would allow the creation of a speed camera "pilot project" in Beverly Hills, California. If it's allowed to proceed, this pilot project will undoubtedly lead to the installation of speed cameras statewide in the future.
The bill,
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/07-08...7_sen_comm.html
SB1325, is currently in the Senate Transportation & Housing Committee and narrowly failed to pass (5 votes for, 5 votes against) on April 29th.
Unfortunately, the committee voted in favor of keeping the bill open for reconsideration.
To prevent this bill from sneaking through the legislature in the future, we encourage you to contact your legislators and the members of the Senate Transportation Committee to voice your opposition to the bill.
You can find your legislator's contact information http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/officials/ here and contact information for the Transportation Committee is available http://www.senate.ca.gov/ftp/sen/co...me1/PROFILE.HTM
here.
Thank you for your efforts!

Having spent the first 23 years of my life in England, i urge anyone to vote/lobby against this.
All they need is one toe in the door, and its game over, i used to live near a 13 mile stretch of road with a record breaking 26 cameras on it... and it wasn't even a bad accident route (before the cameras), they could just make some serious $$$ on it!
