View Full Version : cheaper axial flow short throw shifter??
Leaveitstock 04-18-2008, 06:33 PM i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can find a axial flow short throw shifter for cheaper than 260 off the axial flow site?
i mean i have no problem paying 260 for a quality product but is that the best price out there or is there any suggestions for another ss that's just as good?
mysql 04-18-2008, 06:35 PM afe is the cheap sts. The mazdaspeed one has a longer throw and costs a lot more.
only way you're getting it lower is used, and they sell almost instantly. So be prepared to wait a long time unless you buy new.
Leaveitstock 04-18-2008, 06:39 PM is that the best out there or do you think afe is better
Leaveitstock 04-18-2008, 06:40 PM oh my bad yea is the throw signiffiantly shorter
Leaveitstock 04-18-2008, 07:02 PM anyone else suggest anything that would fit my description?
mysql 04-18-2008, 07:04 PM the afe sts is made by afe, and is sold by them. It's not like you can get them off ebay from china or anything. The only alternative I'm aware of is the MS sts and it's got a longer throw and costs more.
DarkBrew 04-18-2008, 07:14 PM Look at it this way; You buy the AFE SS for $260, use it for 4 years or so and then sell it for $225. So really it costs you less than $50
Leaveitstock 04-18-2008, 07:20 PM right that sounds good.. i hear it voids your warranty though i havent really read into it tough

Leaveitstock 04-19-2008, 11:51 AM yea well im talkin about a dealership warranty
Leaveitstock 04-19-2008, 11:54 AM as in it would mess up my trans and if they knew i had a sts on it then it would void my warranty so maybe your not to sharp.
Honestly if you're that worried about it, you might as well leaveitstock...HAHA I made a funny. Stop being a tard, just buy it, you won't regret it!

AFE is the best place you'll get it unless you can find one for sale used on this site.
Well actually Hymee sells them as well in Australia but I doubt that is cheaper.
As far as warranty is concerned, if you chew up your synchros most likely the dealer will not warranty it because you have a short through shifter. Anything else should be fine. Basically they are required to prove that the modification specifically caused the failure to your car. So if your engine goes they have to warranty it unless they can prove that somehow your shifter caused the failure.

Oh and Swoope is pretty sharp. If you'd have done a little searching you'd have found a nice sticky at the top of the Aftermarket Performance Modification section that explains all this and you'd have known the answer without having to ask us.:)

devildog1679 04-20-2008, 07:24 PM Just switch it out before you take your car to the dealer. Takes less then 15 minutes.
