OK, I keep reading about the MP3 player, and I know what MP3 files are and I know generally how the player installs and everything, but what I want to know is this: Is it a hard drive, like my iPod, or a disk drive that just plays MP3 encoded CDs?

If it's a hard drive, how do you transfer MP3 files onto it? Does it come with a serial or USB or FireWire cable to hook it up to your laptop? What is its capacity? Perspiring minds want to know.

I've never really looked at a built-in (car) MP3 player and I'm trying to picture its function. Thanks.

it's a CD drive that enable to read mp3 files that you recorded from your computer onto a CD.

Thanks, Mr. Spawn. Too bad. A hard drive would have been way cooler, but a lot more expensive I'm sure.

Anyone have one of the OEM models installed?

Yep, installed it myself as well as 6-8 other people on this board that I know of. Do a search for "mp3 install" to read up on the thread.

I've got the MP3 player. It's nice, I guess, but not nearly as nice as it could've been.

Some of the hard-drive based car MP3 players have integrated 802.11. Park the car in your garage and it'll sync up with your MP3s on your home computer. Now that's cool.

does anyone know if the titles of the track will show up on the display?

Pressing the DISP button cycles the display between filename, folder name, and ID3 tags: title, artist, album.
