Sorry if this has been discussed and beaten to death at a different time and place, but just wondering how long you'd expect the renesis would need to have major work done. This is with regular maintenance, including maintaining the oil level between changes.

One or two quarts of oil every two or three thousand miles may endear some to the rotary, but I'm not sure I can deal with some of the rotary/mazda quirks. I still remember the days of my POS cars where my trunk was equiped like a small auto repair shop. I have lots of great war stories, but I'm not sure I want to pay 30k+ for the pleasure again.

I'm still agonzing over whether to get the 8 or the new '04 TL. I'm still going strong at 270k on my old Accord -- uses minimal oil every 3500 miles. I'm starting to think I should go with the TL for now and wait three or four years to see if the renesis proves reliable.

Darn, that 8 is a beaut though!
