Hello All,

Here's another service bulletin:

MIL with DTC P0128 and/or P0456 - Issued 11/07/03

http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/docs/01-024-03.html

I have no idea what the heck this bulletin is all about.

Abbreviations used:
MIL = Malfunction Indicator Light
KAM = Keep Alive Memory

What are these?
DTC - Diagnostic Test Code ????
WDS -
ESI -
PTU -
PCM -

Please clue me in if you understand this bulletin.

Thanks,

dtc=diagnostic trouble code.
the other abrivations are just computer softwear terms,each manufacture will use diffrent programs.it looks to me like its for some of the cars that keep getting mil lights(check engine light)and these trouble codes come up when they checkout the car.this must be the fix for those troublesome check engine lights.ive never seen one on mine yet at 8000 miles so im sure its only for those that have reucurring cels.

DTC P0128 is a coolant thermostat problem.
DTC P0456 is an EVAP system leak.

Neither of these are likely to manifest themselves as performance issues and are likely due to minor variations in manufacturing tolerances in the sensors.
This TSB is to install a new PCM code to mask this issue, not really a fix, per se.

DTC - Diagnostic Test Code
WDS - Worldwide Diagnostic System
ESI - Electronic Service Information (Mazda's Online Service)
PCM - Powertrain Control Module
