NaarLeven 03-26-2008, 07:20 PM Wow I have that same phone, I can see how tiny they are.
TopGear8 03-26-2008, 07:57 PM Could be one of the reason's there is pretty much no turbo lag. I had the chance to drive one at a BMW driving school and it was amazing.
Im_DANomite 03-26-2008, 08:05 PM try the 135i...even better!! i might have to lease one under the employee program :)
mysql 03-26-2008, 08:06 PM wow. So the greddy turbo is like 8 times larger than this thing. lol
BigRed 03-26-2008, 08:15 PM wow that is crazy small...exactly why they spool so fast:)
Im_DANomite 03-26-2008, 08:19 PM it's pretty wild how some of these 335i guys are running 11s

whats your take on how long those turbos will last running 11's?

I have only driven a turbo once, what do you mean by lag?
mysql 03-26-2008, 09:43 PM he means boost thresh hold. it's hard to get turbo lag in a street car.
fahrfegneugen 03-26-2008, 09:45 PM Thanks
Feras 03-26-2008, 10:35 PM well in the case of the 335 you start with an engine that already puts out nearly 260hp NA, so a couple little turbos go a long way...still proving the adage no replacement for displacement.
Revlis 03-27-2008, 11:33 AM Nice Pics, Thanks. I have an E92 335 and I was looking forward to the new 135s with the hope that they would be significantly lighter than the 335 and that BMW would have another 2002 on it's hands. *sigh*
Wishful thinking I suppose, still digging the 135 but just wish it were significantly lighter than the porky 335.
Anyhoo, again great shots, thanks a bunch.

Sadly, the misuse of the term "lag" for turbos is just about everywhere -- even from manufacturers' websites.
StealthTL 03-27-2008, 01:08 PM Looking at the 135i myself - it is a little porky.
Actually a lot porky, but still looks like a lot'o'fun.

Throwing the term "turbo spool" into the mix. Some folks seem to use this term for boost threshold also. At least it feels more appropriate than turbo lag.

True.
I hear the rear mount turbos have significant lag due to the piping length. I wonder why this mounting solution is still practiced.
