This is for a daily driven rx8 with 275/35-18 mounted on Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +45.

Both are the same price and have VERY simular specs.

What tire would you choose and why?

Wow, not even comments from people who have no clue what they are talking about?

 

Never tried the Invo's...ran Azenis for a year or so on the street...no complaints.

You will probably find you wear them out fast with the turbo

 

i have the azenis currently and i love them.. one of the best street tires. the invo is nitto's new tire i think. havent heard too much about them

 

The reason there's no comments is because these are two totally different tires and have very different characteristics. You haven't said what you need them for so we really can't offer you advice.

 

I've had the RT-615 back in 2004 on my AE86... it was great on wet weather (Seattle/Tacoma) and even better on dry pavement. sidewall flex was at a minimum, you can still feel it but not as bad. For the price, it's one of the better ones out there. I'm about to get another set for my TII RX7 through vulcantire.com (cheapest I found)

I can't comment on the invo's since I haven't tried them yet but I've heard/read that there's considerable amount of sidewall flex on these tires.

 

I thought I poste up when I on earlier, but I dont know what happened.. Anyways, have you checked out the Bridgestone REO1Rs? Supposed to be the closest things to an R compound for the street you can find.

For maximum performance at a decent price get the rt-615s (but get ready for some fast wear). If you want a more comfortable/quiet ride get the invos. Invos will also be easier to handle in the rain.

Right now Im running 275 rt615's on 18x9.5 and previously ran 275 Toyo t1r's on 18x9.5; I would try to Invos if I got a KILLER price but given that theyre relatively new, that wont happen...

The invos, also people like to shave them down, to 2/32s I believe and run them ask track radials....

 

I think falken are the better tire, but one on my friends who used to run them said the tire gets hot (too hot, too fast). Now he has RE-01R's, and says there was a huge improvement.

 

I don't think anyone seriously thinks of Invos are track worthy tires.

 

You're probably thinking about the Nitto NT01's...

You can't compare a $150 track ready tire to a $300 tire. Its not the same thing.
Advan A048 is twice as expensive yet probably twice better.. from what i heard.

[edit] Nevermind the R1R is a different tire than what I was thinking of. RT-615's are the best bang for the buck for track ready tires.. PERIOD
If you want DD tires get something else.. as you'll only get 12k mile out of these.

Toyo designed the R1R to fit right in-between the R888 and T1-R

 

T1R is garbage. Toyo RA1 is there top street/track ready tire. R888 is full competition.

They are crappy tires at a premium price.

 

Think of it this way.. the more traction you demand from your tire.. the faster they wear, hence terrible DD tires.
I just noticed your running boost on your 8, then rt-615s are perfect, great grip level, cheap price, and are easily available.
Since they are cheap you can afford to replace them so faster wear shouldnt be a problem..

 

I don't believe the T1R's are that garbage...They are probaly one of the best out there, in terms of longevity, and grip on a DD car...

That said, I don't think the OP is looking for something like that...

RT-615=Best Choice...

 

You didn't really specify what you're looking for. For a DD and track toy it doesn't get much better than Azenis RT 615's but they will be gone very fast, I destroy a set on my miata in about a year and that's only 6 or 7000 miles of driving and that car doesn't have any power.

If you want a street tire that has close to the same amount of grip as the 615's but will last a little longer check out the Toyo T1-R's or the Falken FK-452. The falken fk452 is a very nice tire with loads of grip and a smooth ride, I like them better than the t1-r's I've driven on.

If you don't care about how long they last and you want a nasty street tire go for the Bridgestone Potenza RE01-R's they are incredible and they really are a step above the Azenis. Turn in feel is top notch and overall grip is better than the Azenis. And they don't get hot and greasy like the Azenis!

 

If you're looking for options to compare directly against the Falken Azenis RT-615, look at the Kumho Ecsta MX. I've had one set of them, and two sets of 615's. When my current set of Falkens is past their prime, they will be replaced by the Kumhos.

Some of those other tires, like the Bridgestone RE01R, and the Yokohama Advan would be really nice, but they are not in the same price range as the Kumhos and Falkens that I have mentioned.

My comments regarding these tires are based solely on my using them for autocross regularly.

 

While supplies last the current Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1s are cheap and will make a good (and somewhat superior) alternative to the RT615s and MXs.

 

Do you know where to get the Z1's cheap ?
