When I check my oil every 1000 mls or so between changes there's a white milky substance all over the dip stick. Ricart Mazda said it's ok & won't hurt anything. They state it's because of the cold weather & should go away once the weather warms up. Can someone please tell me what to do, how to clear it up and get rid of it.

When I get my oil changed it's from Penzoil 5W20 Synthetic Blend. Not the Full Synthedic.

Its just condensation and should be fine. I saw this for the first time in my car a few weeks ago after switching to royal purple.. You may want to research doing that synthetic blend VS full synthetic first... Ive heard mixed emotions on the subject and finally went to royal purple synthetic.. That seems to be the choice of everyone on here.

Thanks. I'll look into Royal Purple oil. I've read quite a few threads for the past couple of weeks on different issues and just never thought to check this out. This S*@t better clear up. Once again, I appreciate your responses.

 

RP will not clear this up. RP is a great oil, but oil is not the issue here.

This "stuff" is caused from moisture buildup in the oil - and this can happen with any oil.

In order to get rid of the moisture you either need to drive the car longer more regularly to get the oil good an warm and keep it that way for a while to burn off the moisture buildup - or use an oil additive that helps get rid of the moisture.

 

Thanks. The Mazda dealer said they can install something to keep the moisture out. I forget what it's called but they said it would cost about $300-$350 for it. Since I'm in the learning statges of the internal workings of a Rotary motor, what oil additives would work?

Lube Control LC20 has ingredients that absorb water and will clean out gunk, varnish sludge, etc - could try it, but depending on the buildup it may take a little while to clean it out.
