Please help! P2004 APV stuck open ON 2 CCM

I have been having an intermitent CEL on my 2004 rx8. First it was just showing a small evap leak, I replaced the gas cap and that fixed the problem. The light came back on about a month later. The car was runnning fine, 2 days ago I noticed a burning smell insided the car. It smelled like burning plastic. I pulled over and opened the hood and saw a small amount of smoke coming from the back of the engine. I couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was coming from because the smoke was so thin.

I just went to autozone and had the codes read, there were 2 codes, 1 for a large evap leak, and then P2004. The autozone guy said it was the intake manifold runner control. According to a thread on here the APV is stuck open.

I am wondering if this is something I can fix myself. My car is at 70k miles and out of warranty. I am hoping this is not going to be expensive....

EDIT: Just found this on google:

Looks like it is a known problem by mazda, I guess there is not chance of getting it fixed for free since its not a recall...

it says 0.7 hours labor. If your local dealer charges you that, it doesn't look too costly.
