Why won't the key in the lock unlock the door?

But realisitically, the easiest way to fix this problem is to hook up a car battery to the 12v+ and 12v- wires going to the rear speaker amplifier.

Should give just enough juice to let the keyless entry unlock the doors.

At your own risk of course :)

Try turning the key in the door the other way...

next easiest (free) way is to jack the car up and hook another car battery up to the starter 12v+ line and any ground point.

And if the lock is kinda frozen(won't turn), you could spray just a little bit of wd40 in there. I'm NOT sayiing to do this, but it's an option.
In the past on other cars, I have lightly coated the key with 3-in-1 oil and been able to free it up that way.

That actually sounds a little better than the speaker amp, but is a little more physically dangerous not knowing the OPs ability level.

I can see it now................we will be making a DIY that runs spare cables down to some aux position on the underside of the car, trunk, or maybe hidden behind the plate for this purpose! Wait....let's put it right in the front nose opening.............maybe between the front accent piece!

Do you think your trunk pass thru is in place and locked?
If you can get a small person through there you'd be set.
For all I know, you might be able to turn the trunk lockout flange from inside the trunk?????????

If not..do as Staticlag suggests with another battery to the starter from underneath if you feel comfortable. If not you might have to call a locksmith.

I still thinking, will let you know if I come up with anything else.

whoa, this is a strange problem to have.
do you have another key you can try? New cars usually come with 2 copies and a valet version.

You could always call Roadside Assistance and have them come open it for you.

hit the door really hard above the passenger handle

That won't work without power to the key switch ;)...and it's the drivers side :)

Sorry for your trouble... but... it could get worse

You didn't prep your car for storage?
Did you at least add fuel stabilizer?
How about the tires? are you preventing flat spots somehow?

I really hope it works out for you.

I don't get it... keyless entry system "overrules" the mechanical lock?

I have a 2004 GT *without* keyless entry and I can lock/unlock my doors just fine using the key while the car is sitting in storage without a battery in the car.

Sounds pretty stupidly engineered to me if keyless entry without power means no way of unlocking the car.

No that's not it....apparently his lock is messed up(can't use key) and he doesn't have enough juice in the battery to unlock the doors electrically.

A good locksmith would not. Yeah, you should worry about a tow operator randomly jamming a slim-jim around, but locksmiths are a lot more skilled than that.

you found a way good.

What I will do is make a little hook using a hanger, pile the Door slightly so I can slip it in, then unlock the door with the little hook.

not hard to do.

Buy the graphite powder (dry lubricant) that you squeeze into the key hole. Costs $1 to $2.

I am unfamiliar with this particular species of brick. Is that a "Mercedes brick" or just a "Peace Brick"? or something completely different.
By the way Laythor...............you were a huge help to the OP. :lol2:

seems like someone was trying to get into your car and popped the clip off your door lock/latch assy.once removed you might need to have the clip replaced by taking off the door panel and inspect for damage.hope this helps
