This weekend I drove to the mall about 35 mins away. Car ran fine all the way there but when I was about to leave the strangest thing happened. I started my car, pushed in the clutch and put it in reverse. As I looked over my shoulder to back out my car just cut off......I still had the clutch all the way in so I have no idea why it stalled.
I have an 05 GT 6spd with 41k. I always let it warm up before driving, I change the oil every 3k (just did it 3 days ago), I have been premixing with 2.6 oz of full synthetic 2 cycle oil at every fillup since 25k, I installed new coils, plugs & wires at 35k and I clean the MAF sensor abour every 4 mos. I have never had any issues except for the normal sounds everyone complains of. One other thing...it was about 30 degrees outside that day but not sure it that had anything to do with it.
Any ideas?

^ he said he drove it 35 mins. but didn't explain that he went shopping and then left.
So ... I assume he dropped someone off.
Could be a fluke or perhaps a neutral switch. You need it to repeat before this can be considered a problem.
Issue yes, problem not yet...........

I was in the mall for about 15 - 20 mins. Car should have been warm enough. Don't jinx me man...I dont want that sh!+ to happen again cause it scared the piss out of me. I was like....damn not the curse of the SS......ha ha ha. It started right up when I turned the key so that was a relief.

don't make it into a problem unless you are sure there is one :)

Never never let you car cool down for more than 30 minutes! This is in the RX-8 manual. You have to start it up every 10 minutes to keep it warm. Make sure you let it idle for 2 minutes between each shut down. I follow this religiously. It's hard to get any sleep, but it's worth it. Also I get 2 mpg. I donno why.

Ok everyone.....I never said this is a problem and I'm not trying to make it out to be one. I just asked if this ever happened to anyone cause I have never heard of this type of "stalling out" happening before.

I'll keep this in mind especially during the cold mos. I never leave my car outside during the day or at night for long periods of time. Its usually in the garage 18 - 20 hrs a day. On the days I don't drive it I always start it and let it run for 10 - 15 mins.

ha ha thought the engine was cold............
It's ok to bring this issue up. It's in the correct section to ask a question.
