hey everyone!

Has anyone replaced their stock tires yet? if you have, what tires did you get and how's the experience with your new tires so far? How do they measure up to stock ones?

I've noticed the stock tires that come with the 8 are summer tires and I've been thinking about replacing them with all -season tires. I want some advice on which brand I should go with. And also stock ones are really noisy! So I'm thinking about getting the tires with less road noise....so any advice?

I replace my tire with Bridgestones Potenza S-O3. They are summer tire, and they are great!!! alot better then the stock tire, and I don't care about the noise, am more in to the drive and how safe I am with the best tires I can find!!!

As for snow, I have a hyundai scoup turbo for does days!!!

Teh carz 2 new for anyone to have swaped tires. Wait a few more years.

If you would have bothered to search (this is a vastly underutilized function) You would have found that the stockers are crap, wear quickly and would be bettered by just about anything out there. I went the way of BFG KDW2 275/35

Me and Marquis went with ultra high performance All Seasons last year at this time. Kumho Ecsta ASX's... can't remember the size off hand, but they weren't exactly the same as the stock Potenzas, although they fit on the stock rims - just a tad wider. I've put about 14,000 miles on them so far (didn't take them off in the summer - too busy).

I think they're great. We do some pretty aggressive driving each month with the gang in the NW Forum (see kristopher_d's threads), even in the rain, and I haven't had any problems keeping up or pushing it in the twisties. I've driven in light snow a few times (1-2 inches) and haven't had problems either, although I was being pretty cautious.

We looked at all kind of options and for the money these seemed to be the best for what we wanted - which was mostly to not use our summer tires in very cold weather and be able to handle some light snow.

I had just replaced my stock tires about 2 weeks ago. I had the stock Potenzas almost bald by 25k miles. I was thinking of getting the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position but decided to go for the Toyo Proxes4. Both were ultra high performance all season tires anyway. I also changed my tire sizes from the stock 225/45-18 to 245/40-18 (which still fits on the stock 18" alloys of the car). So far I'm loving my new tires. Whenever I get the chance when the roads and weather are great, I'd try to push my car a bit on the curves and twisties here in my neck of the woods around Snohomish and Woodinville (I still drive conservatively when the roads are wet from rain - except of course when I'm in one of Kris D's drives :D: -- but I definitely won't drive my 8 when it snows).

Anyway, the response, grip, and handling of the car is really nice. Great, to say the least. Plus I recently installed a set of Tanabe GF210 springs on my car too. So the combo of the new Toyo tires and the Tanabe springs just made my car's handling a bit better too. Who knows. :dunno:

Still, I would highly recommend the Toyo Proxes4. These Proxes4 tires has now made me a fan of Toyo. :D:

I'm on my second set of Nexen N3000 245/40-18's and loving them. UHP's but for a fraction of the cost, and still great performance. I've got Toyo Proxes T1S's on my FC, and they're great tires too, though, it's not really a fair comparison.

I replaced my stocks with Toyo T1-R's. They are amazing in the rain for all season UHP's. I had to replace the stocks because there was a bulge in one of the tires. I'm very happy with them except they're a bit small on my new wheels. I think this summer I'm going to see how long I can burn out for :D:.

CodingParadox switched to Goodyear Eagle1 G3-D3, and they're really an improvement--Better dry and wet traction, and much, much quieter.

^^Agreed, but he has an AWD monster Celica All-Trac, on which he has Blizzaks, so he's pretty well covered.

I have heard 245 is the most you would want to go... I have that size on my car 245/40/18 on my stock wheels, love it, but I want more mechanical grip... like swaybars and springs... soon :)

i stayed stock size but im regretting a little not going to the 245 even tho they could possibly hydro plane easier.. they really do look good on the car. but at least i stayed in budget. that make s the wife happier :)

I'm no my second set of Fuzion ZRi's. They are a Bridgestone sub-brand. Great performance at a budget price, comfort and treadlift are not so great. I liked them enough to get a second set though.

I went with KDW2's but would not recommend them. They are loud and the sidewalls are a bit soft for my taste. They are excellent wet weather tires as advertised but they are not all seasons and can get slick when the temps drop.

245 is as wide as you want to go on stock rims. Any wider, and the sidewall deapth will make steering input soft. As long as you have tread that will evacuate water well, aqua-planing shouldn't be an issue. I was cruising at 70 in that deluge Wednesday morning without trouble, and could have probably gone faster.
