Navi idea
Anyone ever thought of replacing the monitor that has a couple of outputs one that might work with the Navigation. Then having an alternate input for say a dvd player. I would just love to avoid the use of that avelectronics method.

Yeah it's been done - do some searching you find some REALLY cool stuff - and some of the carputer stuff some of the guys have done is unreal
I personally just got the Corksport 2 din kit and put a nice nav / dvd player in it.

If you replace the stock nav screen, you won't be able to use the stock nav system without a converter. The stock nav system uses RGBs, which is not easily compatible with screens that have multiple outputs.
RGBs basically means Red, Green, Blue + sync. Standard RGB (like what CRT monitors use) have horizontal sync and vertical sync. Converting from RGB to RGBs is pretty simple (though connecting a computer to the stock nav screen can still be problematic due to the low frequency of the nav screen.) Going the other way is more difficult.
