I already posted this suggestion in one of the "split the FS/WTB" threads. But after thinking about it a little more, I think it could use its own thread.

Would it really be that hard to delete a FS/WTB thread once the item has been bought or sold? It's almost not even worth looking at the classifieds. I bet I've looked at no less than 50 FS items in the past month, and I could count the ones that weren't already sold on 1 hand. I understand if it was just sold earlier that day (maybe the day before), the admins might not have had time to read the "sold" post and delete the thread. But if it sold a week ago...WTF!?

Am I the only one that finds this pretty freakin rediculous? And shouldn't the admins want to do this? It would get rid of at least a couple hundred threads they have to moniter.

Why can't the person who started the thread close or delete it when it's over? That makes the most sense.

I do agree with you, and empathize with the work it will create for the admins. I'm a network admin. Worse than that, I'm a network admin in the Army. We don't exactly hire based on someone's skill level. My users can't wrap their head around why they can't check Outlook while the network is down. "I don't want to check my internet email. I want to check my Outlook." Users are LAZY! There is no negative consequence, so why bother. Unfortunately that doesn't stop the deletions from being necessary maintenance for the forum.

it's a good way to check a sellers "history" especially since there is no rating system in place.

That's why there is another section just for that. Plus, how many times do people actually leave feedback on the item they bought? And one of the suggestions I made was to lock finished sell threads. Even if they aren't deleted. You can still look at a closed thread, but I would know the item was already sold without opening the thread to read it.
