View Full Version : Goodyear Eagle F1s? Tires Suggestions..
So I'm looking at replacing tires. My rears are severely bald and needed replacing a month ago, and have turned into a safety issue.
Here's my current setup:
Hankook Ventus K104's
Front: 19x8.5 45mm 235/35-19
Rear: 19x9.5 55mm 265/30-19
The fronts don't need replacing like the rears do. I'm seriously considering replacing only the rears right now due to cost issues, and replacing the fronts this spring. What do you think?
After much searching and looking around, Tire rack has Goodyear F1 GS-D3s for
REAR: 265/30/19 $226 ea
FRONT: 235/35/19 $214 ea
Total Shipped: $920.89
Anyone used Goodyear F1s? I couldnt find much on the forum about em. They seem to have good reviews and are on sale atm. Do my tire specs look fine?
Thanks~
I'm using them right now with 245/40/R18 on 18x9.5s all around, for about 5,000 miles including one track day. They are indeed excellent tires, with great grip, quiet road noise /comfortable ride, outstanding wet weather performance, and great treadlife so far (weathered the track day just fine). My main complaint with them are the soft sidewalls. If you're going to be making quick directional changes with them you will feel the sidewalls flex. Overall, it's a great tire for the money in my experience.
Mixed tires are fine I guess, if you don't mind having 2 different looking tires on your car for a while. It seems like you also wouldn't be worried about the different handling characteristics of the 2 tires, judging from your staggered setup.
philsbluerx8 09-20-2007, 07:54 PM heyyyyyyyyy, i am getting GoodYear eagle F1 too, when i first saw your post, i thought that was what i posted but i didnt remember i post anything......
On tirerack's suggestion I went with 275/35ZR-19 on the rears instead of 265/30/19. Anyone see a problem with this change?
Thanks.
JB_Rotary 09-24-2007, 10:45 AM I ran Eagle F1 GSD3's this year with about 6 autoX events a drift day(fronts only) and a track day. They are excellent street tires and as it has already been said fi you make a lot o fquick changes you will feel the side walls flex. I didn't think they were that great on an AutoX course but they held up great on track. If you plan on doing alot of AutoX, track etc..... I wouldn't reccommend them. If you are going to do a few events and awnt a great street tire they are great.
Gimlet 09-24-2007, 02:15 PM I ran 'em for over 20k, rotated religously, and they still had about 35-40% tread left. Like the others posted, great tire, but a little soft on the sidewalls. Much quiter than the stockers. The traction on 'em is pretty good in the wet, tho they might harden up quite a bit in the OKC winters which could be a bit hazordus.
Sizing - you will be going up over a half inch in sidewall height with the 275/35's. You might rub a bit (if you don't already). I'm pretty sure alot of folks run that size with a fender roll.
BTW - Car's looking real good W0rm. I remember when you first got that thing bone stock. I might be going back to OKC next year and if so, am looking forward to getting back together with the OKC-group. - - Gimlet (formerly OKC-RX8).
Rhythmic 09-24-2007, 03:39 PM +1 for a great tire. Nothing but good things to say. Previous reviews here are spot on. Coming from your current tires you will not be sorry.

i thought they suggest using a 275/30. the overall diameter of a 275/30 is only 0.3in. smaller than the OEM size tires but then again so is the 275/35 for some reason. :scratchhe

Thanks man. We havnt really been having any meetings these days, although I'm seeing a lot more 8s down in norman. Let us know when you swing by!
I'm hoping I can get away without a fender roll but that might not be happening after I install S-techs this week and rubber this weekend(hopefully). We'll see. Got the springs in today! After these, no more mods till FI in spring.
Decat 09-25-2007, 01:15 AM I just had the Eagle F1's put on the rear last week (255/40-18) and I am loving them so far.
I looked and looked for some new tires on the front (I wanted Dunlap SP Sport Maxx) and I happened to stumble accross a company on Ebay based here in Houston that sells barely used tires and I had them installed this morning in their shop out the door for $200. I couldn't believe how new they looked! They have almost exactly the same amount of tread as my new Eagle F1's ($267 at Discount tire each)! Good luck.

MissyK 09-25-2007, 02:44 AM I have the Eagle F1s 245/35/19 all round and they are not too bad. Wear is not super and noise is not minimal but better the the stocks, and cheaper too.
