Talking to a local tuner, it seems someone has already taken the turbo plunge. I found out a fair bit about the job, but I'll do the polite thing and see if I can contact the owner before I blab any details.

Kev 10-13-2003, 07:49 AM Well, I suppose if I just say things like Wolf 3D, custom ceramic turbo, rebuilt - not a bolt on job and over $20K ... the reaper probably won't find me. The vitals - I think he said about "double" stock. I would like to track down the owner and see the car myself . Find out the satifaction level ... but it wouldn't surprise me if its a sleeper and owned by someone that would prefer to remain private. The tuner? Alex at Redline in Brookvale (sydney area). He seems to know a lot about rotary engines and has worked on them for 32 years. http://www.redlinerotary.com (the site doesn't tell you much at all and nothing about 8's) pepe 10-13-2003, 09:09 AM LOL @ the concept of the 8 being a sleeper... it looks like it's doing 120km/h when parked in the garage ;) Seriously though, would be interesting to see how this job stacked up against the mythical MazdaSpeed 8 that is being talked about. AndyP 10-19-2003, 06:22 PM Simon from ProMaz in Melbourne has also got himself a black RX8 and work on its development has already begun. He said that if he simply could fit a turbo in there it would have been on weeks ago... keep an eye out for a kit once he has it done. |
