No suggestions really, but besides something being loose. Open it up and shake it around to find the loose point. I think Sunroofs are very difficult to take apart, and thats why Mazda is giving you the run around. My wife had a infinity once with a busted sunroof and cost her over $600 to fix. I have some what of the same problem. When I open the roof, it vibrates rigorously. It might be a lube thing. Good luck.

This car is not a year old yet. Before I call Mazda head office, looking for any one with same issue

Mazda: "I'm sorry, I don't know how to fix your problem."
Me: "Well then you better get to replacing it."

That is how I see it going...but that is just me. The car is under warranty. Obviously they believe you, or are able to reproduce it...time for them to get to fixin it.

Try WD-40ing the joints, and maybe cleaning it up before you do. Worked for me.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin out on this already (Bulletin No: 09-029/06 from July 2006). Below is the coverage.
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS:
* 2004-2006 Mazda RX-8 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1 FE**** **206829 (produced before May 25, 2006)

Don't know if your vehicle falls into this TSB or not.

Just live with it! I took my car in for this TSB and the dealer not only managed to drill a hole though the sunroof motor and bend the frame, they also damaged my seats, roof, side sills, a-pillars, console and headliner. I finally got my car back after waiting for parts for 2 weeks and them having my car for two weeks. After spending a day getting all of the overspray off of my car, I now have a rattle in my headliner above my visor.

Counter-point: my dealer performed this work - no new issues created and the rattles and squeeks have been exorcised for almost a year now.
