ive had my new greddy turbo kit with emanage ultimate installed for 4k miles now. with small bugs but no major problems. recently ive had a problem with it overheating while driving the car under boost a length of time. i checked the coolant level it was nearly full when i slowed down and drove car not under boost the coolant temp returned to normal, but i could smell coolant smell in the engine and also noticed small spots of dried coolant on the air box tray. what do you think my problem might be and how should i fix it any suggestions will be appreciated.

did you perform all the greddy fixes in the "Definitive greddy turbo fixes" thread? its prettly helpful. I would also like to find out the problem as well, as im installing my greddy turbo kit soon.

I don't think this is common or related to the turbo, since I don't have this issue and don't recall reading about it before..

how did you know it was overheating ? The stock guage is not a good one - I think you have to be way over for it to change position.

What is " a length of time" ? It could be that this is just the stock system unable to cope with the extra heat load for long .

what year? how many miles? all this info...

I noticed it overheating at about 125mph at full throttle 4th gear 5lbs of boost when i let off accelerator and resumed normal driving conditions temp gague went back down 2005,36kmiles. have not performed greddy fixes, do i need to since running updated turbo kit with e manage ultimate?

you'll still want stuff like fix #2 done.

5 psi is very low. most of us run 10-12 without issue.

My wastegate flutters and blow-off rarely blows off should i adjust the actuator rod on the turbo to increase boost?

this is the first turbo that i have ever even rode in there is no where around to tune closest place is about 5 hours i've been reading a couple book on FI and EMS to educate myself becuase ppl around here don't even know what tuning is! from the videos i have since on turbo 8's i hear their bov blow off even revving up but my wastegate just fluters It rare that i even hear my bov -its a greddy rs-even while drive under boost...HOW MUCH BOOST SHOULD MY KIT RUN PRE-TUNED STRAIGHT OUT OF THE UPDATE TURBO KIT?.....i am green as the HULK when it come to tuning i would like to increase my boost, put my cat-less midpipe back on and have a AFR in a reasonable range!!! i live in the coal fields of southwest VA if there is anyone close or just someone period that you'll know I could contact to help out it would great appreciated

sounds like your bov is on too tight. just loosen it and drive. You want it to open when you let off the throttle, but not so loose that it opens while driving normally.

if it's not tuned, don't exceed the default 6 psi unless you have afr and can make sure you're not going too lean.

why does the wastegate flutters...i haven't hear it on any other videos that i have seen of a greddy turbo 8

This can be resolved with a Mazsport Cooling Fan Control Kit which will lower your engine temperatures.

how old is your turbo kit? cause if u have the old one like mine, the piggy-back is use the temp to fool the ecu to add more fuel while on wot. and the wastegate that u hear could be the turbine spins different driction from the air is travl to the engine since your bov is too tight.

ps: try to adjust the bov, see what happens. hope u get it fixed!

Have you checked if the radiator spare tank is leaking. It happens once in a while.
It should be around the cap area and see if you can find any cracks.
It could also be that the cap needs to be changed to a higher psi rating but i dont think thats the case for you.

Both happened to me before so try to see if it helps. Best of luck.

disagree - this mod will only keep your temps down under average conditions - it does not increase the cooling capacity of the system when under heavy load .

Unfortunately, this mod only keeps your median temps lower under normal conditions.
Once you start to really put heat into the system in hot conditions, it will still over-heat.
In a nutshell, under conditions where overheating is inevitable, this mod will not abate the issue.
You can run the fans all you want - if you are putting more heat into the system then it can dissipate, it will overheat.

Increasing the system's heat rejection capacity is the only thing that will help.
Greater rad area, bigger, higher flowing fans, bigger oil coolers, more efficient ducting, etc.

i fixed my bov problem and added redline wetter water tooo the coolant and just on issue since then and i what giving it helll when it happened thanks to you all for your input
