wow, i just saw this for the first time on mazdaparts.com. That is probably the sexiest front bumper i've seen on a 8. Nice and simple but wow. https://www.mazdaparts.com/images/product/abfront.jpg

and the sexiest back has to go to the "fabulous rear" https://www.mazdaparts.com/images/product/faulousrearhi.jpg

now if i only had about 2500 dollars to get that in winning blue and installed on my car i'd be the happiest man in the world. haha

i agree, it is a nice kit. there was a pretty recent GB of replicas. try doing a search for autobahn, youll find a few.

as for the fabulous rear, it is pretty nice. i dont know of anyone that has it though

I plan on getting the Shine Autobahn kit, and the Fabulous rear. Gonna order the Fab at the end of next month, and I'll be among the first for the Shine once he starts up his second run.

anybody can "RE-ENGINEER" a product and make it better, it doesnt take that much skill, but its the principle of the matter, if it doesnt bother that much inside to buy replica then go for it, but the pure enthusiast knows whats up.

hahahahahah........................

i should qualify by saying, i cant comment or compare between shine's replica and the original. the original could have been worse for all i know. i may have been more disappointed with an original product cuz not only would i have paid double for the parts themselves but i may have had to pay more for body work as well.

a pure enthusiast of what? i am a driving/racing enthusiast. "whats up" is that i dont want to spend a ton of money on a body kit. i liked how it looked but its not a priority.

I liked the varis but it wouldnt have lasted very long, the ground would have ate it up fast....who knows, maybe one day might =)

back to the autobahn kit, yes it is a very beautiful kit...

I have the Shine autobahn and proud of it Im usually the first one to hate on replica's because of the work into it basically.but loved the look and thats the bottom line. I lucked out and got a good bumper for the price.u think i care who or what created the idea and now making a profit. with that said

My shit is beyond sexy.now I get tired of explaing to people its not a new Ferrari or Lambo murci :) but the attention is beyond the MS bumper.

cool thanks...FRP- fiberglass re-enforced plastic?

scsi
06-05-2007, 05:02 PM
yes it is. most kits for the RX8 are FRP. genuine Mazdaspeed is made of Metton. there are some Hybrid FRP offered by Ings+1 and shineautoproject replicas. the only polyurethane kits i know of are replicas

hey if its shine's replica..make sure to get that thing doused with high quality adhesion promoter, not that cheap bulldog spray. After a year, with the best stuff the shop could get, im just starting to get one of those dreaded spider webs under the paint because that front is so flexable...definitely not as bad as some of the spiderweb stories I hear. Cant wait to see the bumper on a winning blue!

kei office = win

Autobahn 8
09-15-2009, 03:17 AM
No it's not peeling...just it makes the headlights look smaller....isn't bigger better hehe J/K. Actually just had the car repainted so they had to take off the eyelids. When it was done it didn't look too bad with them off. So....maybe considering it.

Oh...I live in Nei Hu, Taipei....close to the new Technology Center.

Kei=Win huh? Guess they didn't win too much huh since they went outta business right? =P Well eyelids are a must I would choose KEI over other ones

luv this front bumber, I currently have the Mazdaspeed... but will like to keep the rear and upgrade to Autobahn... with Eyelids like yours.... awesome ride

shakeyourbrakes
09-15-2009, 08:29 PM
keep the kei office, i was in the same boat deciding for months when I had just my autobahn front. My opinion the lights fit the bumper great shrunk down with the eyelids

Autobahn 8
09-16-2009, 12:20 AM
Ok...convinced...will keep the KEIs.

NOTURX8...tks there we so many kits out there but just felt this one would be different since most lines of other kits are round in the front. So far haven't seen any in Taiwan. So I guess I am in only one in the country. Shhhhhh don't want to be too loud since I wanna keep it that way. :naughty:

By the way what kind of material is Metton....is it like our regular ABs since those are the best but I guess no aftermarket does it cuz tooling is too expensive...so most got with FRP. FRP is cheap, bad this is they aren't strong at all. These are like 2 MPH pumpers now.

my autobahn (replica) is coming off for the winter. too low to risk it n the snow. i will get it repainted properly before it goes back on. the color is a touch off in certain light. but as for as the "replica" part the fitment was amazing in my opinion.

deedub, know ur a big man on campus round here... but who fuckin cares

I'll tell you exactly who cares. EVERY. SINGLE. ENTHUSIAST.

We're not talking big companies when we talk about shops like Fujita Engineering (FEED), Au-to Bahn, Knight Sports etc.

We're talking about small shops that have a love of cars and do what they can to survive. These guys aren't rolling in money, and every single sale they make helps them out.

Why not support replicas? Simple, if you want the companies to stay around and keep producing the parts that you find so hot, SUPPORT THE COMPANY, not the REPLICATOR.

I also understand the argument of cost, believe me, but I steadfastly refuse to put a part on my car that is not an authentic part from the company that designed it. That's why my car is STILL stock since '06, I can't afford authentic. But I'd rather wait and support the companies I love so much, than harm them by buying ripoffs.

Actually no, I don't, for the same reason. I support the artists who make the music I enjoy. I also go to their live shows even if they suck live, just to support them and help them keep going.

I use iTunes for all of my music needs.

Thats what Faygo is for (sorry west coast neighboors you have no idea). Best cheap PoP EVER! Smaller company out of michigan woot.

All that aside I love the autobahn, but now I'm leaning back towards the Authentic Mazda Speed, why must it cost an arm and both of my legs?!?!? I need those to drive with!

well i had the day off the other day so i took the autobahn (replica) off for the winter and just in time to. i just went outside and there was snow on the car for the first time this year. unfortunatley im not going to be able to deal with the stock looking front end plain so i will probably be picking up an A spec lip to put on there till spring. PS i dont wanna get caught up in all this talk about "purist" and "real car enthusiasts" but since those people with such strong convictions have littered my email and done such a nice job of ruining what i was hoping to be an informative thread. heres my take on the matter: i dont know for sure but if the original manufacturers patented the bodykit design then yes the companys making the replicas should either buy the rights or at least get permission to reproduce the design. that seems fair to me. if someone knows FOR SURE the exact legality on the matter, by all means please post it here. if that is the case that should end all conversations about the matter in this thread. if these replicators (that are, how was it put, ripping off?) have a legal right to reproduce these parts then its no different than mazda having the right to reproduce a german engine that they bought the rights to from the NSU. so the real car enthusist that felt so strongly about somebody copying somebody elses design wouldnt even be driving a japanese car deisigned by a german right?
"purist", "real car enthusisast"=car nazi? nobody likes a nazi

If it actually looks good then isnt that the whole point of it? to tune your car the way you want it? That is the pure enthusiast I think.

depends on your definition of enthusiast, if your all about looks you would be a ricer to the go people, if your all about go, u can still be a ricer to the race ppl, if ur all race, u could be too hardcore for normal ppl

:dunno:

anyways i feel using the term pure enthusiast is probably contrived and slightly conceited

This threads name should now be called "pure enthusiasts" for the poor people who go wanting to learn something about the autobahn bumper so they search for it Instead of posting for fear of being ragged on for being lazy and not doing their research. And so,here, this is what they get. I'm sorry fellow researcher for my contiribution to wasting your time.

Anyways love the autobahn bumper, I'm gonna get a ti grey one once I've got the money. I don't even know who makes a knock off one. Anybody else know for the next curious enthusiast who comes along looking for the best buy? I kinda look at it like a Coach bag- what you pay just gives you the right to say "it's real" ...not that I own one of those.

How bout some insight on fitment
and is ti grey easy color to match?
