I was wondering if the letter has to be postmarked by oct 1st or be in mazda's hands by then. I havent gotten a VIN# yet. I was told by the mazda customer service to leave it blank and write a side note about my car not having a VIN. Im wondering if I should actually do that as well?

One of their reps told me on the phone that 10/1 was the deadline for postmark, not delivery.

you have til 10 01 03 to take action they dont have to have it by then

I talked to them today, and while it's not strictly policy, I'm sure, I did ask about what about pre-orderers who won't even take delivery until after 10/1, and also hadn't gotten the letter...

the guy said "we did the $500 and free maintenance mostly for the preorders, so he'd hope that Mazda wouldn't bump people out for not following the 10/1 deadline, if they didn't receive the letter by then."

So, not an official answer, but a decent one.


...by the way, I got my form and letter faxed to me, he said I *should* have gotten one; and I sent it in already.

So now I'm officially *very* happy!
