Hey all,
I've been working on my install in my 8 (speakers, subs, amps, bluetooth, ipod integration, ....the list goes on) and everything was going fine, but then at the very end I did something really dumb with my JBL amp (I was crazy tired) and I'm pretty sure I fried the internal amp in my base HU. All of my displays work, head unit operates, but no dice on sound of any kind. Oh, and no, it's not the fuse.
I need to replace the lower half of my head unit, but I'm not having any luck finding one used (thought I'd found one, but it was the cd transport when I need the 'audio unit'). I'd really rather not replace it through the stealership if I can help it, so my question is: does Mazda use the same HU across multiple car lines? I've been trying to search for info on this and have checked the stickies but can't really find a good answer. If I could find, say, a wrecked Miata or something is it possible to swap the audio unit out of it?
Alternatively, if anyone can point me in the direction of a used base HU I would be much obliged. I'm loving the car and I love the sound of the rotary, but wow some music every once in a while would be kind of nice....this is all I need to be done with my install....for now! :)
Thanks!
