i dont know if this has happened to anybody else but here it goes. since i got the car i have felt a little bit of resistance when i would go to open the gas tank cover but i figured it was normal. i have owned 2 8s so i figured maybe it was a design change. so today i go to fill up and i feel the normal resistance and then it just popped so i figured that maybe it was just snagged on something and it came loose. well the gas cover doesnt open and i think i can here the cable rattling around. just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and why something like this would happen. going to the dealer tomorrow again so we'll see.

Doh! (I couldn't resist)

No can't say as I have, but sure seems like it may have come loose. That could be a neat trick! good luck....let me know how it turns out.

So does it still feel like it's resisting? If some part of the mechanism is binding it could explain why the cable pops off its attachment. It's only meant to exert a small amount of force.

i have thought about it but i really dont want to have to change the bbk. i waited an extra month for silver so i want to stick with it.

as of right now i'm not feeling the resistance anymore. the mazda tech may have reinstalled it wrong making the resistance still be there. the mechanism seems to operate smooth its just that the ball keeps popping out and thats where i think the resistance is coming from(when its just about to pop out).
