Plzzzz:). im thinkin of gettting sum sub in the boot and and want more ideas and views on it. Doctorr 09-21-2003, 08:24 PM No way..... KC_RX-8 09-21-2003, 08:50 PM Here's mine... For more pix, here's the thread..... http://rx-8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11338 GTR-jai 09-21-2003, 09:33 PM :D woow KC nice pic of subs man they well neat. i wounldnt mind sumthing like that man Thanks for the photos guys mikeb 09-21-2003, 11:52 PM doctorr where are you gonna install that sub Squidward 09-25-2003, 03:21 AM holy crap that woofer is huge.. how many inches is that thing??? kinda hard to tell with the short perpective Doctorr 09-25-2003, 04:11 AM It's an Audiobahn 18". Made for SPL competition, it is rated 'only' 1200 watts so it can be entered in that class.......will handle 3000 if pushed. and no, it is not going into the '8'....... . . . doc mikeb 09-25-2003, 12:35 PM where are you going to put the sub then doc Unser 09-26-2003, 07:33 PM I kept the sub and amp from my old car and put the amp on the sub box. The box was too big to go in the trunk, so I peeled off the carpet from one end and cut off about 1/2" of the lip on one end with a circ. saw. The black plastic cover inside the trunk covering the lock came off easily and the whole thing went in and fit snugly inside the trunk, leaving me room to open the trunk pass through. The wires are from the rear speakers to the high level input on the amp, and remote turn on from ignition on at the fusebox. Sounds good, I still have to adjust the Low Pass Filter, Low Boost and I have a level control near where I sit. If anyone can educate me on using these, it would be really nice. I think I can live with it for a while now. Driver8 09-26-2003, 08:29 PM One more view mikeb 09-26-2003, 11:01 PM nice pictures guys you even got red equipment to match the car Unser 09-27-2003, 07:19 AM yeah, thanks, mike b. the red Xplod units matched up by chance, looks nice. I like the fender strakes on your red, best add on you can get. Unser mikeb 09-27-2003, 06:40 PM I'm thinking of adding aluminum gas cap next Unser 09-28-2003, 07:48 PM post pics when you're done, please swift21 09-29-2003, 06:45 PM very nice pics j1mb0x99 09-30-2003, 06:40 AM I am definately going to be adding subs when I get my 8. However, I don't want to cover the pass through if possible. If not though it is no big deal as I will probably never use it anyway. What I was thinking though is having two serparate boxes made. One for each speaker placed on each side of the pass through. I was thinking about putting in twelves. What do you all think of this? Will there be enough room for twelves? Is sound effected by having the speakers seperated? Please give me some feedback here. -JiM Driver8 09-30-2003, 08:27 AM FWIW - my enclosed subwoofer is simply strapped in and connected via a single plugin, all of which can be easlily disconnected and taken out in the event I need to use the pass through. I think most setups can be done this way, so you don't have to permanently give up your access to the pass through goodyrx8 09-30-2003, 09:09 AM 2 10's, amp mounted on rear of box with controls accessible through passthru, used the child seat latch under rear seats for tie down, system is easily removed for extra space. Cheers, GoodyRX8 Dugless 10-02-2003, 01:17 AM Unser, is that a 10 or a 12? How does it sound? Deep? Loud? Unser 10-02-2003, 07:17 PM Dugless The sub is a 12" Sony Xplod, about 3 years old. The box was trimmed a half inch to get into the trunk, and fit snugly under the rear tray, and leaves the pass thru open too. Measure exactly from the floor to the roof in the trunk in the space next to the pass through, and the box will go through the trunk opening. I am still working on the sound, luckily I have a remote sub level control, I think without that I would be miserable. The audiopilot tries to correct when the sub is high on low system volume, and it becomes boomy, so I reduce the sub output. I have to play some more with the Low Pass Filter and Low level boost to get a constant bass becuase it is so different with different kinds of music, and wherther it is FM or CD !! Anyway, in my opinion, with the audiopilot, which I love, btw, a remote sub level control is a must. If you have any ideas on the LPF and Low boost, please share your experience. |
