If I decide to take the $500 and then in a month they decide to lower the MSRP... That will alter the value of my car and i will be paying on a loan for more then my car is worth!

I think it's unlikely that they will lower the MSRP in the same model year. And even if they do next year, it's unlikely to be a drastic reduction. That would just signal to the public that either this car is not popular at all or has something wrong with it. However, dealers may soon be willing to start selling RX-8's below MSRP.

I have yet to EVER see a manufacturer lower their MSRP, even from year to year, and if it did, you are talking a matter of $500 at most.

Why must every soul on the earth think that price is dependent on horsepower????? I know this is why you are concerned. Please just enjoy the car for what it is. I think it is worth every penny.

Nah, horse power isnt my concern. My concern is my MPG. I'm averaging 12-13mpg with 2700 miles.

That will eventually go up in time. Though I say this without knowing your driving conditions.

I would say that they will not lower the MSRP. They did not lower it for the Millennia (at first) and it is mostly likely that the profit margin is not that wide.

On the 12-13 MPG with 2700 miles, you must be driving in city pretty hard. Try to shift very quickly to third holding the RPM to as close to 3500 as possible - it will only use one injector. You might also use 87 octane a few tanks then check mileage again.

I would have that checked by dealer if you are still getting 12mpg after 2700 miles. Most people had mpg increase around 2k

A new car typically loses around 20% of its value the millisecond you drive it off the lot, so even if your car was totalled in an accident tomorrow, depending on your down payment you would get an insurance check for significantly less than what you may owe, meaning you have no car and have to keep making payments on it.

This is called being "upside down" on a loan, and unless they put more than 20% down, most every person financing a car is in the same boat until about half way through their loan term...
