Recently took delivery of my RX8 and filled up for the first time.
The gas cap seems to have a tether, connecting the cap with
the filler hole. Is there an elegant way to not just let the cap
hang against the body? My other cars had a nice little clip in
the fuel door to hang the cap on. I see no such clip on the RX8.
Should I just cut the plastic tether? or has someone figured
out something better? Thanks.

I gently hang the cap OVER the filler access door so the outside of the cap rests against the body. Minimal chance for a body dent, and the inside of the cap (the part that goes into the filler tube) stays off the car surface.
Actually there is a tether hook in the lower right corner of the door opening. While it keeps the cap from hanging down, it doesn't really keep the cap from touching the body work. But is sufficient in my book.

Am I the only one who just puts the cap on the "ledge" to the bottom and right of the filler hole? There's room there for the gas cap without it touching the rest of the car's body, and it does not get in the way of the gas nozzle.

This has been covered in a previous thread. (Hint: the search button is your friend.)
The solution that worked for me was velcro (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=98913#post98913).

I just took the tether off the cap and do not have to worry about any marks on the car. I just have to remember to get the cap off the gas pump and reinstall it cap now.:)
