View Full Version : Hawk HPS or Ceramic brake pads? calaloco 03-02-2007, 01:48 PM Want to know which is better, Hawk HPS or Hawk Ceramic, thank you for your help. TeamRX8 03-02-2007, 03:50 PM better for what? calaloco 03-02-2007, 04:08 PM better for what? Street, less dust & noise... dannobre 03-02-2007, 04:09 PM ^^ Ceramic for that.....HPS dust. Slightly better than stock...but still not great TeamRX8 03-03-2007, 01:43 AM definitely ceramic, HPS is more dust and less performance IMO, both are quiet calaloco 03-05-2007, 08:01 AM I'm going to buy ceramic. Thank you very much! calaloco 03-14-2007, 10:36 AM I changed my front and rear brake pads, hawk ceramic, they are great! I also change my stock tires (bridgestone r040 sucks!) with Toyo Proxes TR1 (after did a research, I chose this because price/perfomance, perfect tires!) TeamRX8 03-14-2007, 07:45 PM :) tmak26b 03-14-2007, 10:15 PM stay away from hawks pads. They are tough on rotors and they dont stop much better. Look for Carbotec if you can deal with the dust and noise TeamRX8 03-15-2007, 12:18 AM ^^clueless TurboEight 03-15-2007, 05:28 AM stay away from hawks pads. They are tough on rotors and they dont stop much better. Look for Carbotec if you can deal with the dust and noise lol...he askes for these criteria..."Street, less dust & noise.."....and you tell him "Carbotec if you can deal with the dust and noise"... lol.... r0tor 03-15-2007, 06:54 AM definitely ceramic, HPS is more dust and less performance IMO, both are quiet HPS is lower performance then the ceramics? didn't know that... savedsol 03-15-2007, 08:35 AM I bought some HP+. Won't install til next month though. tmak26b 03-15-2007, 11:15 AM lol...he askes for these criteria..."Street, less dust & noise.."....and you tell him "Carbotec if you can deal with the dust and noise"... lol.... the panther plus are fine, i was referring to the XP model. As far as the Hawks HP+ on rotors, I got two scared rotors to prove it. 30K miles on a set of rotors = no scar. 1200 miles on HP+=scar around the rotor. TeamRX8 03-15-2007, 06:20 PM I agree, HP+ suck, that's why I never recommend them however, Ctech has their own set of issues and problems, I can only conclude that somebody who makes such a broad sweeping generalization must be less than informed ... SouthFL 03-15-2007, 07:05 PM Been using HP Plus pads now for two cars as a street/ HPDE track day pad. I really like the performance and flexibility of this pad for street/track use- especially on our cars. Thus far, on the RX8, no fade on track after a couple of intense track days (4 to 5 sessions lasting up to 50 minutes each). On a heavier, underbraked Stage II WRX Wagon, they would fade after about 20-30 minutes on track on stock calipers. Nevertheless, I really enjoy not having to swap pads after an event and these HP plus fit the bill. Carbotech sells a similar pad as well in their Panther Plus. Anyhow, this has nothing to do with the original question of this thread, but seeing that conversation had drifted to HP Plus, I thought I'd chime in with my 2 cents on the compound. tmak26b 03-15-2007, 10:07 PM I agree, HP+ suck, that's why I never recommend them however, Ctech has their own set of issues and problems, I can only conclude that somebody who makes such a broad sweeping generalization must be less than informed ... I used every compound in their lineup in one year, have lap times and temperature readings for each set. Yes, I am not very informed. I just happened to be faster by luck... JB_Rotary 03-16-2007, 12:42 AM Team what pads would you recommend that comparable to the Hawks HP+ but good. r0tor 03-16-2007, 05:42 PM anyone know of a good place to get the Hawk ceramics... i didn't see them listed by our forum vendors MadRonin 03-16-2007, 11:01 PM anyone know of a good place to get the Hawk ceramics... i didn't see them listed by our forum vendorsTirerack sells them: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Mazda&autoModel=RX-8+6-speed&autoYear=2004&autoModClar=&brand=&category=Pads ElusiveFX 03-31-2007, 01:47 AM HP + are loud as hell! i had them on my E36. Would not recomend them, they stop great though! Razz1 04-01-2007, 04:31 PM I like Porterfield Carbon Kevlar brake pads. So do alot of other racers. http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/ TeamRX8 04-01-2007, 08:42 PM I don't |
