View Full Version : OEM Tires ---->>>> BfGoodrich KDW G-Force
cas2themoe 02-11-2007, 04:27 PM I have almost 34k on the car and it was time to change the tires. I did tons of research and decide to go with the BfGoodrich KDW G-Force tires. Seemed like a good tire for the price.
1st Impressions: The tires aren't giving me what the stock Dunlop's did. I loved being able to snap the wheel left to right and the car reacting so quickly. I feel as if I have lost some of that with these tires.
One of the main reasons why I purchased these were because everyone said they had great "steering response". I don't know if I need to put more air in them or what, but I have it up to 45 psi right now(I added some last night).
It feels like I need front and back sway bars. Anyone have any suggestions? Comments? Questions?

Wilson 02-11-2007, 04:45 PM They are an awesome looking tire, but I have read many posts about the sidewalls being far from stiff enough. 45 PSI is too much, and even then, it is not going to stiffen the sidewall. I would drop back to 35 PSI and that way they are not so hard and give you a sore back from the bouncing you will do.
pdxhak 02-11-2007, 05:29 PM They look great but they are loud and the sides are too soft so the "feel" is gone. I look forward to getting new tires.

Aipex8 02-12-2007, 02:26 AM Such a controversial tire! I weigh in on the look pretty, perform sucky side. I had the same experience as you, luckily I was able to exchange mine for something else. Some people love 'em though.
BlueRenesis82 02-12-2007, 04:35 PM thats one weird looking crossfire
RedSheDevil 02-12-2007, 04:41 PM omg, you are so banned!!!!
avenger 02-12-2007, 05:40 PM I think these tires are good. I have them on my eclipse and they are pretty nice. MUCH better than the stock tires that came on my 8. Also have to remember new tires do have a break in period and 45psi is WAY too high ... for me anyway.

As for now, there is no way these tires are better than the stock Dunlo's. no way. I hope you're right about the break in period..........
Cody Red 02-12-2007, 06:51 PM hm, this makes me think twice about ordering these tyres now. thanks for making this thread.
even though someone may've already posted feedback about 'em

p.s. goodluck with another set if you go that route.
SHOWOFF 02-12-2007, 06:59 PM I have them and I love them. I'm running a wider tire. 235/35/19. They are very loud but the grip is amazing.
I have run the stocks, Nitto NT555's, Falken FK451 GRb, and now BFG's and these are the best I have had.
I ripped through the Falkens in less than 4 months. They had HORRIBLE grip.
The Nittos lasted the longest but had terrible wet traction.
The stocks were a good all around tire. I sold them with my stock rims at 1700 mi.
The BFG's have great dry and wet traction, but they are loud as hell.
funspork 02-12-2007, 07:04 PM Those ain't snow tires.
avenger 02-12-2007, 07:26 PM What tire pressure did you run with your stock dunlops? Stock tire pressure isn't 45psi.
johnnywfg 02-12-2007, 07:53 PM Azenis RT615 4tehwin!!!!

cas2themoe 02-14-2007, 05:58 PM What tire pressure (#) did you run with your stock dunlops? Stock tire (#) pressure isn't 45psi.
I think I had them in the mid 30's.
CarAndDriver 02-14-2007, 09:16 PM I hear the Falken Azensis are great tires if you can deal with the short tread life.
alerx-8's 02-14-2007, 10:10 PM i had them on my white water pearl thier nice looking but thier loud , so i went with the ps2 from michelins and their alot quiter
avenger 02-14-2007, 10:18 PM Why don't you put the tire pressure down to 36 psi and see how it is. 45 is just too high. If it's 45 when it's cold its going to be much higher once the tire heats up.
Razz1 02-14-2007, 11:44 PM Since when did the RX8 come with Dunlaps as stock?
Stock tire is Bridgestone RE040's

There are two different OE tires for the RX-8. The RE040 is one of them, the other one is the Dunlop SP Sport 8090M. I have the Dunlops as OE too.

Yes, I am aware of that. They had it around 36 psi when they first installed them and it was a lot worse than what it is now. I went back to the shop and they are going to contact BF Goorich for me to see what they say.
TeamRX8 02-15-2007, 01:35 PM 45 is too high for the rear, but not the front. I'll be happy to oblige anyone with an @sswhooping on the autox course who thinks so ...
