and you thought you were having a bad day.

now in fairness, $9.9 BILLION was one time non cash restructing costs, but still they managed to top GM's $10 BILLION loss for FY 2006.

Then where'd all that money go? As far as I can tell, none of those "bold moves" ever came to fruition.

Ford is 18 months behind GM in their turn around. Over the next 12 months GM's product onslaught looks to be impressive.

I think we are going to get Ford "europe" over here, they have hinted at it and once they cut the fat from Ford it can be done profitably.

We will have the Euro Focus, B class small car and Mondeo at some point before 2010. I would be money on that. It just can't come fast enough.

At a guess...
all the redundancy entitlements for the factory workers from closed US Ford plants and health care costs...

I wanna become a CEO. Seems all the do is make stupid choice's and still get paid and every once in awhile drive a company into the ground. Sounds like a pissa job to me.

Hopefully this expected loss if you will, shall pay off eventually. Sadly the "Bold Moves" havent shown up yet at all despite the advertising. Sure the Mustang is a sucess along with the F150 but both are give me's. The Fusion is true selling but I hardly see its supposed target audience driving them (that of teenagers and 20 somethings.). Well hopefully we'll see some real bold moves or GM is just gonna trounce upon Ford hardcore.

I knew Ford lost over 5.5 Billion in 2004, now they're loosing more money. Ford stock is also at an all time low- like $1.20 a share or less. Unless Ford can turn it around, I don't think they're going to be around in the near decades.

What I'm hoping is if Ford gets low enough, Mazda can buy it's share out of hock. Hell maybe they can buy Ford, or stage a takeover. Then start pumping out some kickass cars for a change and fire outright most of the old Ford beauracrats, starting with the CEO and going right down the line.

Ford needs to hire Steve Jobs to turn the failing company around. Then we'd all get new iPods for free with every new Mazda purchase.

I think Ford just sells Mustangs and trucks these days. Too bad the Taurus can't compete anymore.

Ford's new top dawg is getting a lot of praise. He's a veteran in cost cutting.

Yeah...he also drives a Lexus. Rumor has it, he cancelled his order on a new one since taking the job. I hope he can help turn the company around. Anyone else could probably do a better job than what the current staff is doing.

Ford said at the beginning of the year that 2006 would be bad. "Bold Moves" don't happen overnight. 2009 will be the year to watch.

Well I remember awhile back that Zoom posted a thread about how Ford has pretty much hired most of the staff that turned Mazda around when they created the Zoom-Zoom era. So one hopes these guys will make the old school Ford crew listen. They had a piece on NBC news about Ford loses and they made a comment about how most people are waiting for Ford to come out with "..Exciting designs like they used to back in the day.".
